Matthew 24:24-25 “For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. See, I have told you beforehand.”

We are advised to be vigilant as we are warned about the arising of false Christs and false prophets in the end times…

These deceivers will perform great signs and wonders, potentially leading even the elect, those chosen by God, into deception.
We are forewarned of the need for discernment and maintaining steadfast faith in the face of such misleading influences.

Jesus cautions his followers to be wary of deception…

Matthew 24:4-5 “And Jesus answered and said to them: ‘Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.’”

Many will come, claiming to be the Christ (I.e., “anointed one”), and will lead many astray.
Believers should be prepared to discern not only the claims of individuals but also to scrutinize their teachings and practices carefully.

We are told that false prophets will inundate our world in the last days, and they may appear benign or even genuine, but harbor harmful intentions…

Matthew 7:15-16 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits.”

False prophets will lead their followers away from the true gospel and path of righteousness to another gospel through their deceptive false teachings.

2 Corinthians 11:3-4 “But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted—you may well put up with it!”

In our world, there are many false prophets who are driven by evil spirits…

1 John 4:1 “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.”

All spiritual powers are not from God… there are fallen angels who influence people to teach and do evil.
These false teachers may have demonic sway to do deceptive signs and wonders.
We should not listen to false teachers who deceive, seeking to separate us from God..

In the last days, before Jesus returns, false teachers and false prophets will significantly increase, bringing their destructive ways to the lives of their many followers…

2 Timothy 3:13 “But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.”

1 Timothy 4:1 “Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons.”

Jesus warned our generation to be watchful regarding the myriad of false prophets among us…

Matthew 24:11-12 “Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.”

The main objective of these deceivers is to take their victims away from the true deliverer, Jesus Christ.

Satan works through false prophets/teachers and will try his best to separate true believers from their faith…

2 Corinthians 11:13-15 “For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.”

Demonic deception will be powerful, and only through godly wisdom and discernment given by the Holy Spirit will we not fall for the devious ways of our enemy.

For a long time, a lot of people wanted to deny what was happening to us. But now we have reached a point when you can no longer do that and retain your credibility. Job openings have been plummeting, and layoffs have been spiking. Manufacturing activity is way down, and delinquency rates are way up. In fact, the credit card delinquency rate just hit the highest level that we have seen since 2011. Just about everything has gotten significantly more expensive, and America’s food banks are being overwhelmed by vast numbers of hungry people. Nobody can deny any of these things, and now U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is publicly admitting that “there are sectors of the economy that are in recession”…

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Stephen Miran, President Trump’s appointee to the Fed’s Board of Governors who is on a temporary leave from his job leading the White House’s Council of Economic Advisers, this week struck a downbeat tone about the health of the world’s largest economy. Mr. Bessent went so far as to say some sectors were already contracting. He did not specify which sectors, but high mortgage rates have put housing and adjacent industries such as construction under pressure.

“I think that there are sectors of the economy that are in recession,” Mr. Bessent said on CNN on Sunday. He described the economy as being in a “period of transition” because of a pullback in government spending to reduce the deficit. He called on the Fed to support the economy by cutting interest rates.

Bessent’s job is to put a positive spin on America’s economic performance.

But now we have reached a stage where even he cannot deny the truth.

Just look at what is happening to the shipping industry.

When the economy is booming, the amount of stuff that is being physically moved around goes up.

But when the economy falls on hard times, the amount of stuff that is being physically moved around goes down…

As someone who’s spent decades immersed in the freight and logistics industry, I’ve learned that freight data often tells the story of the broader economy long before traditional indicators catch up. Right now, that data is painting a stark picture: The U.S. economy is entrenched in a goods recession. While consumer spending on services might be holding steady, the movement of physical goods—the lifeblood of manufacturing, retail, and industrial sectors—has ground to a halt. This isn’t speculation; it’s evident in the high-frequency data we track at FreightWaves through our SONAR platform.

Nobody can pretend that this isn’t happening.

I realize that some of you may not want to hear this, but long-haul trucking volumes are down 30 percent on a year over year basis…

The long-haul trucking segment (800+ miles), however, has fallen off a cliff. Year-over-year volumes are down a shocking 30%, a sign that the broader economy is in trouble. Long-haul trucking is more exposed to the energy, manufacturing, auto, and housing segments.

That isn’t a small shift.

That is a monumental collapse.

When Freight Waves stated that long-haul trucking “has fallen off a cliff”, they were not exaggerating.

Manufacturing activity is down too.

In fact, it just declined for the eighth month in a row…

US manufacturing turned down in October on the PMI index, dropping from 49.1 in September to 48.7 in October, marking the eighth consecutive month of contraction. Price pressure may have eased (58 from 61.9), but production (48.2 from 51), inventory (45.8 from 47.7), and deliveries (54.2 from 52.6) have all declined.

Employment in the sector continued to decline (46 from 45.3), and 67% of panelist noted that companies are working on managing their current workforce rather than hiring. Again, lower rates are unlikely to address this structural problem or encourage companies to expand during a contracting business environment. Eight consecutive months of decline should be a warning as manufacturing declines often precede recessions, or in this case, ongoing stagflation.

Since less stuff is being produced, it should be no surprise that cardboard box shipments have fallen to “their lowest levels since the third quarter of 2015”…

Nearly every physical good in the modern economy is transported or stored in a corrugated cardboard box. That’s why box shipments act as a reliable real-time economic barometer, especially very useful now, as the government shutdown enters day 33 and key agencies like the BLS have halted official economic data releases, leaving private high-frequency data sets to fill the void.

The latest box shipment data from Bloomberg, citing a report by the Fibre Box Association, shows some of the weakest volumes in years, reflecting waning consumer sentiment and potentially signaling a subdued holiday shopping season. These shipments were at their lowest levels since the third quarter of 2015.

This is the real economy.

Factories make things and those things are put in cardboard boxes and shipped around the country in trucks.

At every point along our supply chains, activity is slowing down.

So let’s stop pretending.

All over the United States, major employers have been slashing their workforces…

When Starbucks Corp. fired 900 corporate employees in September, economists hardly batted an eye. After all, the coffee chain had already done a February culling as part of new management’s drive to get the Frappuccino maker back on track. In October, Target Corp. eliminated 1,800 roles to help the beleaguered retailer move faster. For each corporate cutback, there’s been a clear explanation: Amazon.com (14,000 corporate jobs) blamed artificial intelligence; Paramount (1,000 workers) just completed a merger; Molson Coors (400 jobs) can’t get carb-conscious consumers to drink enough beer.

Separately, each announcement can be read as a one-off. Yet taken together, some economists worry that the recent spate of cuts is starting to look a little less like individual belt-tightening and more like a warning sign.

Layoffs were up in 2024, and now they are up again in 2025.

Because most Americans are just barely scraping by from month to month, many of those that are losing their jobs are at risk of losing everything.

In this very difficult economic environment, it should be no surprise that vehicle repossessions are expected to hit a level that we haven’t seen since the Great Recession…

Car repossessions are booming as Americans increasingly struggle to pay.

The number of seized cars hit a 14-year high of 2.7 million in 2024, according to data from the Recovery Database Network (RDN), which processes around 90pc of all requests from lenders for repossessions.

Kevin Armstrong, editor of CU Repossession, an industry publication, expects the total will hit three million this year based on current trends, only just shy of the 3.2 million peak seen in 2009.

Things are bad, and 57 percent of Americans expect economic conditions to get even worse next year.

Unfortunately, I think that most Americans are still way too optimistic about what is ahead.

There is no “quick fix” that is going to turn things around, because our system is fundamentally broken.

We consume far more than we produce, a very large percentage of the population has become dependent on the government, and no nation in the entire history of the planet has accumulated as much debt as we have.

We are in far more trouble than most people realize, and the road ahead is not going to be pleasant.

Something is shifting — quietly, steadily — in ways that most people don’t yet see. What we’re facing isn’t a single crisis, but five converging storms that could merge into something far larger than anyone expects.

1. Liquidity Crisis -- When the Financial Fuel Runs Low

Most people don’t think about “liquidity” until it vanishes. In simple terms, liquidity means cash -- the kind banks lend, businesses borrow, and people use to pay bills. Without it, the entire system seizes up.

Right now, the financial system is showing strange signs of strain. Bank reserves -- the cash cushion that keeps lending stable -- have fallen to their lowest level in years. At the same time, the Federal Reserve has quietly stepped in with tens of billions in short-term loans to keep money moving behind the scenes.

When the Fed pumps that much cash into the system overnight, it’s usually because someone -- somewhere -- ran out of it. The question is: who?

If banks are struggling for quick cash, it means they’re holding assets they can’t sell or debts they can’t collect fast enough. When that happens, lending slows, business credit tightens, and economic oxygen gets thin.

Liquidity is the lifeblood of the economy. And when blood stops flowing, organs start to fail.

2. Mass Layoffs -- The Human Cost of Economic Slowdown

The headlines tell a grim story. Over the past few weeks, major employers -- from Amazon and UPS to Intel, Nestlé, and Accenture -- have all announced sweeping job cuts, tens of thousands at a time.

Layoffs aren’t just numbers on a spreadsheet; they are the breaking of thousands of family budgets and dreams. When a job disappears, a mortgage payment vanishes with it. Confidence collapses. Spending dries up.

When you live paycheck to paycheck, a single disruption -- a layoff, a medical bill, a missed payment -- can send your whole life into free fall.

We’re not just running out of money. We’re running out of time.

A Powerful Witness: Coming At a Critical Time, Calvary Chapels Led Large-Scale Tours to Israel

“We were there at a very historic time,” announced Holland Davis, senior pastor of Calvary Chapel San Clemente, CA. “We arrived on Sunday, and Monday morning the [Israeli] hostages were released; [first] seven and then later, 13.” Holland was one of five CC pastors who brought groups of people from their churches to tour the Holy Land from October 13-24, 2025, commencing a pivotal U.S. return to Israeli tourism.

In early 2020, Israel’s government enacted strict nationwide lockdowns due to the Covid threat, and tourism took a hit. When the country began opening back up, a few Calvary Chapels managed to fit in a brief visit. However, when the Hamas-Israel war started in October 2023, the once heavy presence of U.S. pastors and churches dropped off entirely—decimating Israel’s tourism industry.

Reconnecting

Led by knowledgeable local tour guides—some well-known to returning pastors—sites such as Masada, the Dead Sea, Mount of Olives, Gethsemane, the Temple Mount, the Western Wall, and the Israel Museum were just a few of the dozens of historical touchstones the groups visited. Chris Fraley, senior pastor of Wildwood CC in Yucaipa, CA, shared, “Our guide [David Tal] cried a couple times during the trip, being so blessed that we were there. The tour guides are always grateful when we come, but at just about every site, he thanked us—much more than normal—for coming.”

The group that accompanied Senior Pastor Gary Hamrick of Cornerstone Chapel in Leesburg, VA, filled five buses. “We had more than 200 people eager to see the Holy Land—the largest tour group in Israel at that time,” Gary noted. “The people of Israel gave us a royal welcome and were thanking God that we returned to His chosen land.”

Senior Pastor David Rosales of CC Chino Valley (CCCV), CA, also noted an exuberant response from the Israelis to their presence back in the Holy Land. “Jewish people were approaching members of our tour just to say, ‘Thank you so much. Thank you for caring for us. Thank you for praying for us.’ It was a very deep, emotional time for us.”

Chris noted a marked change in the Israeli culture, something he had not experienced on previous visits. “I talked to the military. They are all young, and they ask, ‘Where are you from? Why are you here?’ We tell them we are from the U.S. on a tour. It wasn’t until we told them that we are praying for them and that we love and support them, that they just lit up! I think they are uncertain where the U.S. stands [regarding Israel] today. But when they realize churches and believers are standing with them, they practically leap at you and hug you. They are so grateful.”

Senior pastors Damian Kyle of CC Modesto, CA, Pancho Juarez of The Ark Montebello, CA, and Pastor Mike McClure, CC San Jose, CA, also took groups on this tour, making a total of nine buses traversing believers along the coast of Caesarea, the Galilee, Golan Heights, Jordan Valley, Jerusalem, and the Judean Desert. Chris noted that even though Israel is now experiencing more groups, and larger ones, the typically packed stops were easily navigable. “At the Mount of Beatitudes, sometimes there are thousands there, but because there weren’t as many tours as before, we practically had the sites all to ourselves.” A film crew traveled with Damian throughout the Holy Land, recording his teachings at significant biblical locations. The resulting video will allow those unable to travel to experience the spiritual richness of an Israel pilgrimage.

Rich Spiritual Impact

Although this marked his 30th trip to Israel, David Rosales said, “It is always a new experience to go, and we had a number of our people who came for the first time. It was a real blessing for them.” Some from David’s group were baptized in the Jordan River, a vivid highlight of their pilgrimage.

David’s staff minister and men’s overseer, John Mata, was greatly moved while sitting in the Garden of Gethsemane. “The very place where Jesus wept for you and me … one of the most powerful acts that Jesus did for us, to say, ‘Not my will, but Yours be done’. I started thinking about my life, [asking] Do I live a life that is set apart for the Lord?”

Like many travelers before them, Jim and Becki with CCCV voiced how wonderful it was “to have the Bible come alive.” Becki shared how one morning while reading her Bible, she was actually able to envision what she was reading. David confirmed, “This is a place that reminds us our faith is alive. It is alive because He [Jesus] is alive.”

Safe as Always

Although they had a bit of a scare when Hamas broke the peace treaty, killing two Israel Defense Forces soldiers, Holland Davis assured, “We were completely safe. Israel retaliated, and we were told the Houthis were going to send a ‘present’ to Israel that night.” Although the group was instructed to go into bomb shelters if they heard sirens, they didn’t have to. “Don’t think, Oh, I could be bombed in Israel. It’s not going to happen. You’ll be safe,” assured Holland. Pastor Gary concurred, “It was safe, and we are already planning our next tours!”

Jerry Paradise, associate pastor at Calvary Chapel of Philadelphia, PA, while considering their church’s next Holy Land trip next fall, learned that nearly every tour group there was from a Calvary Chapel, which Israelis took notice of and deeply appreciated. Jerry noted, “This increases our witness to the nation of Israel. Our founding pastor, Chuck Smith, had a very special love for the land of Israel that he passed on to us through his mentoring across his many years of ministry.”

Having been on five trips now with his church, Chris Fraley expounded, “It is safe, it always has been. The military is everywhere, taking care of their country, just keeping it safe. And you really sense God’s hand there when you go. We don’t worry one bit.” Concerned where the younger generation’s heart is for Israel, Chris shared, “Pastor Chuck was so good at leading us and had such a heart for Israel, but I fear our younger generation might not carry that. It concerns us a bit where that is headed in the U.S. Hopefully, us going, coming back, and speaking about it, and Israel’s place in the prophetic picture in the Scriptures, will help.” He closed, pluckily urging, “Go to Israel! You need to go.”

The world is watching Hamas publicly residents of Gaza while so many in the West parrot claims of Israeli genocide. Hamas fighters lined up blindfolded men and shot them in the streets, calling it part of a “transitional phase.” This isn’t some outlier. It’s baked into their DNA. Across the globe to the West, irate mobs line the streets of major cities chanting “from the river to the sea.” They imply that Israel commits genocide while at the same time advocating for the genocide of all Israelis. These demonstrators are propping up a terrorist group that’s now executing the very people who once supported it. It is the modern example of the foundation of Islam: kill, steal and destroy. Actions are speaking much louder than their words.

The numbers tell a story. According to the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research, in December 2023, 71% of Palestinians said Hamas’s October 7 attack on Israel was the “correct decision.” Hamas was riding high, portrayed as the spearhead of a “resistance.” Fast forward to May 2025: PCPSR found 50% of those surveyed in Gaza and what is identified as the West Bank still believed the attack on Israel was correct. That is a significant drop in less than two years. The same people who once cheered are now watching their neighbors get executed in the streets. It’s one thing to romanticize “resistance” from afar. It’s another to live under its gun. But the reality remains that 51% of those surveyed still blame Israel for their current suffering, and another 22% blame the United States. Only 18% in Gaza blame Hamas for their suffering.

These numbers reflect the tradition of Islam. No matter how Hamas treats those it rules, the mindset is against Jews and Christians first and foremost, even blaming non-Islam when their own rulers turn against them. This behavior isn’t new. Islam has a long record of turning its swords inward when it’s not killing Jews or Christians. The Sunni–Shia split began as a power struggle after Muhammad’s death in the 7th century and has fueled conflict across Iraq, Syria, and Yemen for centuries. Islamic movements built on armed dominance don’t evolve into peace-loving neighbors. They consolidate power through bloodshed. Hamas is no different. They’re not freedom fighters. They’re jailers with rifles, killing to hold on to power in the absence of external war. And for some demonic reason, those they are killing still blame someone else.

And this is where brilliance meets stupidocrisy. Donald Trump understood Hamas’ nature. He negotiated for the return of hostages likely knowing full well that Hamas would rearm the moment the ink dried. That’s not naïve. That’s strategic realism. Meanwhile, those still insisting Hamas will lay down its arms are chasing unicorns through a war zone. As is said in Proverbs 22:3, “The wise man foresees evil and hides himself, but the simple pass on and are punished.” History, ideology, and cold numbers all point one way. Hamas kills. Hamas lies. Hamas will burn down its own house before surrendering power in the pattern of Islam. And Israel will be forced to finish what Hamas started. It was brilliant negotiating the hostages return. To think Hamas or Islam will end violence against Israel, or even itself, is, say it with me…Stupidocrisy.

First Thessalonians 5:11 says, “So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing” (NLT). Romans 15:2 says, “We should help others do what is right and build them up in the Lord” (NLT). As believers, encouragement, praise, and kindness are essential to our relationship with others—and with the Lord. The more we incorporate them into our interactions, the deeper we will grow in our faith.

My granddaughter Stella used to love to pick flowers. She would come to me with a smile on her beautiful face and say, “These are for you, Papa!” It always warmed my heart that she brought me flowers so that I could appreciate them. There is a story in the Bible of a woman named Mary who warmed Jesus’ heart at a crucial moment in His life.

Mary understood what Jesus meant when He said He was going to die. Though Jesus’ message didn’t seem to penetrate the minds of His own handpicked disciples, who had spent their every waking hour with Him for three years, Mary understood.

One night, Jesus and His friends were gathered at the house of Simon in Bethany. Mary listened as the Lord quietly spoke to the audience gathered. But she saw and heard something else. She saw the lines etching His face and read aright the problems reflected in His eyes. An inner sense told her that the disciples were wrong in expecting a kingdom. The Master meant what He said and said what He meant: He literally was going to Jerusalem to be crucified.

She couldn’t begin to grasp something so terrible but accepted it because He said it. She had to do something. She would not wait to give some floral tribute at His funeral. She would bring her flowers now! She would give the very best she possibly could.

So, Mary took some very expensive perfume that was probably a family heirloom and poured it on the head of Jesus. Some were angry at her and criticized her for such a waste, as the street value of such a perfume was around $25,000. But in Mary’s mind, nothing was too good for Jesus, and she wanted to show her love to Him.

Jesus was impressed and even commended her for it. He said, “I tell you the truth, wherever the Good News is preached throughout the world, this woman’s deed will be remembered and discussed” (Matthew 26:13 NLT). Nothing is ever wasted if it is given with a right heart for God’s glory.

That’s a good thing to remember about people you love—people who have impacted you as a Christian. Don’t wait until their funeral to say it. Say it now. Thank them for their influence. Let them know just how much you love and respect them. Bring your flowers now.
