Israel In the Tribulation, Part 2

Last week we tackled the first half of this topic. If you missed it, it would be best to read it first. CLICK HERE

In Part 1 we covered Israel entering into the Tribulation with a 7-year Peace Treaty (Dan. 9:24) backed by 10 nations from the former Roman Empire (10 toes of Dan. 2).

The world will be having a very, very tough time post-Rapture. People will be dying by the tens of millions per month from the New World Leader’s world war (Rev. 6:2).

Apparently the deaths will also come from drugs/va((ines) (Rev. 6:3-5) and all of this will result in horrible, worldwide starvation (Rev. 6:8).

The world’s food distribution will be in shambles and inflation will be so bad it will take an entire day’s wage just to buy food for the day (Rev. 6:6), leaving nothing for housing, fuel, etc.

But Israel’s Not Suffering

The world will be quite envious of Israel. She will have water, food and energy, all produced from inside her own borders.

At some point Israel discovers Solomon’s massive treasures— roughly $150 trillion in gold and silver(1). The world will be stunned at the trove of riches.

Their land has also been filled with silver and gold and there is no end to their treasures; Their land has also been filled with horses and there is no end to their chariots. Is. 2:7

The contrast of "everything is wonderful in Israel" to the plight of other nations in deep despair will be awkwardly obvious. Israel will be living well while the world’s falling apart, with half the world’s population dying in the first 3 1/2 years:

Rev. 6:8—1/4 of the earth’s population dies

Rev. 9:18—Another 1/3 of the earth’s remaining population dies

Due to the 10-nation peace treaty and the massive gold and silver from Solomon’s treasures, Israel will be like a safe island in the midst of a storm.

But their hearts will be far from God.

Their land has also been filled with idols; They worship the work of their hands, that which their fingers have made. Is. 2:7-8

The Bible says they feel secure trusting their peace treaty and new wealth. The Bible describes it this way:

in the latter years … the land that is restored from the sword, whose inhabitants have been gathered from many nations to the mountains of Israel which had been a continual waste; but its people were brought out from the nations, and they are living securely, all of them. Ezek. 38:8

those who are at rest, that live securely, Ezek. 38:11b

Russia won’t be able to stand seeing tiny little Israel doing so well and God easily entices her to lead a massive multi-nation invasion of Israel (Ezek. 38:4) to capture the gold and silver treasures and the food surpluses (Ezek. 38:12).

I will turn you about and put hooks into your jaws, and I will bring you out, and all your army, horses and horsemen, all of them splendidly attired, a great company with buckler and shield, all of them wielding swords; Ezek. 38:4

With God’s divine intervention that includes a gigantic worldwide earthquake (Ezek 38:18-22), the massive invasion will fail and Israel will repel the invaders with a shocking victory.

Of course this means Israel becomes even more of a burdensome stone to the world. And, beyond a shadow of a doubt, the world will know that it is the Lord who is protecting Israel.

I will magnify Myself, sanctify Myself, and make Myself known in the sight of many nations; and they will know that I am the LORD. Ezek. 38:23

Mid-Tribulation

But the good times in Israel come to a screeching halt. Midway through the Tribulation the New World Leader breaks the peace treaty, surrounds Jerusalem, and attempts to kill all of the Jews.

The Jews were clearly warned this would happen and were even given a sign to know when to drop everything and run for the hills.

Therefore when you see the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains. Whoever is on the housetop must not go down to get the things out that are in his house. Whoever is in the field must not turn back to get his cloak. Matt. 24:15-18

It’s a massacre beyond description. Two-thirds of the Jews in Jerusalem are murdered by the Antichrist’s army in one day. That’s roughly 6 million Jews dying in 24 hours.

The one-third (2 million Jews) that heeded the scriptural warnings will escape the hand of the Antichrist by immediately dropping everything and running for their lives.

The 144,000

It’s important to back up here and explain that at the beginning of the Tribulation Jesus comes to the earth, stands on Mount Zion—technically His Second Coming—and has His angels mark 144,000 Jewish men with His and His Father’s name.

Then I looked, and behold, the Lamb [Jesus] was standing on Mount Zion, and with Him one hundred and forty-four thousand, having His name and the name of His Father written on their foreheads. Rev. 14:1

That sorta makes you stand out in a crowd. It’s also interesting to note that Satan puts the Mark of the Beast on people’s forehead.

The Biblical description of these 144K also puts to rest the ridiculous argument that America contains the 10 lost tribes. They were never lost from God’s perspective.

...saying, “Do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees until we have sealed the bond-servants of our God on their foreheads.” And I heard the number of those who were sealed, one hundred and forty-four thousand sealed from every tribe of the sons of Israel: Rev. 7:3-4

In the next verse, the Bible lists all 12 Jewish tribes, and says 12,000 from each tribe were sealed who make up the 144,000 (Rev. 7:5-8).

The purpose of these 144K Jews being marked will be to protect them from harm.

They were told not to hurt the grass of the earth, nor any green thing, nor any tree, but only the men who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads. Rev. 9:4

Although scripture doesn’t actually say it, the purpose of God choosing the 144K will be to teach the Jews, at least those who will listen, that Jesus is the Messiah. And, sadly, explain that 2000 years ago the Jews murdered Him on the cross at Calvary.

As we’ve said many times in the past, the only thing that really matters in this life is who goes to heaven and who goes to hell. So these 144K will share with their brethren how to be eternally saved via Jesus their Messiah.

Having personally met Jesus on Mount Zion in Jerusalem, and seen the scars in His hands, feet and side, these 144K will be quite motivated to share what they’ve learned. Therefore many Bible scholars refer to this group as “Jewish evangelists.”

And since they’ll be using both the OLD and the NEW Testaments, they’ll undoubtedly teach about the Abomination of Desolation passages in Dan. 11 and Matt. 24.

They will teach that two-thirds of the Jews will be murdered in one day. And that day will begin when they see/hear the Abomination of Desolation standing in the Jewish Temple and halting the sacrifices.

in the middle of the week [the middle of the Tribulation] he [the Antichrist] will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering; Dan 9:27b

This also proves the Temple will be rebuilt and animal blood sacrifices will have resumed on the Temple Mount.

When the Abomination of Desolation takes place, when they see the Antichrist stand in the Holy Temple claiming to be God, this group of 144K chosen Jews will lead the hurried exodus from the Antichrist to the mountains in Edom in the area of Bozrah (Petra).

We know it’s Bozrah from this verse…

Who is this who comes from Edom, with garments of glowing colors from Bozrah, Is. 63:1a

The fleeing Jews, led by the 144K, eventually make their way to the Bozrah area of Edom where Petra is located. It’s been unoccupied and desolate for some 1800 years.

About a century or two before Jesus’ earthly ministry, the Nabateans built Petra, a major city, whose unique claim to fame was they carved their houses, businesses and even graves into the numerous soft sandstone walls.

Then one day these Nabateans simply disappeared. People only speculate what happened to them. Nobody knows for sure. But they left all the caves and holes they had dug over the years that are still there today.

Apparently God prepared this amazing place for his beloved Jews to live after fleeing the death clutches of the Antichrist.

Having been stripped of all their worldly possessions, the Jews will arrive with only their clothes on their back. In the dirt-floor houses and empty tombs, the 144K will continue to teach and exhort the Jews for three and a half years.

As many Christians know, sometimes God has to take everything away to get people’s attention. In this case, the Jews will be able to learn the deep truths of God with no worldly distractions.

Enter the rock and hide in the dust from the terror of the LORD and from the splendor of His majesty. The proud look of man will be abased and the loftiness of man will be humbled, and the LORD alone will be exalted in that day. Is. 2:10-11

For three and a half years the 144K will teach their Jewish brethren about the grace of God and how the New Testament ties to the Old. It’s likely God will miraculously supply food and water.

Their new faith will be put to the test when they hear the Antichrist is gathering the armies of the world in the Valley of Armageddon/Megiddo…with the intention of finishing the job of killing the Jews.

And they gathered them together to the place which in Hebrew is called Armageddon. Rev. 16:16

Imagine the Jews in Petra hearing the Antichrist’s army marching toward them. And when the hostile troops get close they can even see the dust rising from the armies from their mountaintop lookout over eastern Israel.

And I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies assembled to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army. Rev. 19:19

The Jews will know full well the Antichrist’s army is coming to wipe them out. The Antichrist will have convinced the world the Jews are the problem and they need to finish the job.

It’s at that time the Jews cry out to their newly discovered Messiah to come save them. And He does.

This One who is majestic in His apparel, marching in the greatness of His strength? “It is I who speak in righteousness, mighty to save.” Is. 63:1

Their prayers are answered as Jesus comes from heaven riding on a white horse.

And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war. His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself. He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him on white horses. Rev. 19:11-14

Imagine those marching in the Antichrist’s army, looking up and seeing Jesus and His army coming in the sky (I would wet my pants!). Most of them would immediately know they were in deep doo-doo. They won’t even have a chance to give up, or run. Much less change their underwear.

From His mouth comes a sharp sword, Rev. 19:15

In short order Jesus annihilates the Antichrist’s army. Just like Jesus had the power to speak the earth and heavens into existence, this time He speaks the Antichrist’s army out of existence. And the birds have a tasty meal.

And the rest were killed with the sword which came from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse, and all the birds were filled with their flesh. Rev. 19:21

Following the Antichrist’s army’s defeat, the Beast/NWL/Antichrist—and his sidekick False Prophet—are seized and thrown into the Lake of Fire.

And the beast was seized, and with him the false prophet …these two were thrown alive into the lake of fire which burns with brimstone. Rev. 19:20

Satan also gets his due…

Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding the key of the abyss and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold of the dragon, the serpent of old, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; and he threw him into the abyss, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he would not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were completed; after these things he must be released for a short time. Rev. 20:1-2

He is not yet thrown into the Lake of Fire as the Lord will use him one more time for one last filtering of sinful people at the end of the 1000 years of Jesus’ reign.

When the thousand years are completed, Satan will be released from his prison, and will come out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together for the war; the number of them is like the sand of the seashore. Rev. 20:8

A thousand years is a long time ...long enough some people will forget, even with Jesus reigning as King of the Earth!

And they came up on the broad plain of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city, and fire came down from heaven and devoured them. Rev. 20:7-9

This seems to be God allowing Satan one last rebellion to draw out those who are not fully sold-out to Jesus before the New Heaven and Earth are made.

Satan will not be a part of the New Heaven and Earth so this time he’s thrown into eternal flames.

And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. Rev. 20:10

This confirms that hell is torment forever. This is consistent with what the guy said in the parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus.

In Hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and saw Abraham far away and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried out and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, for I am in agony in this flame.’ But Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that during your life you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus bad things; but now he is being comforted here, and you are in agony.’ Luke 16:23-25

That poor guy is still in agony hoping for a single drop of water to touch his tongue.

Believers are spared from this because God loved the world and used the Jews to provide a way for humans to escape via Jesus' shed blood. Thankfully we get in on the Jews' coattails. Never forget that!

All Jews are sinners, just as all Gentiles are sinners. But all humans are in the same boat— born destined to hell and saved only through trusting the sacrificial blood of Jesus to pay for their sins.

The mainstream media is in the habit of labeling something a “conspiracy theory” whenever they are attempting to discredit a particular point of view. Of course such “conspiracy theories” have been proven to actually be true time after time. Meanwhile, the mainstream media has been caught in lie after lie in recent years. As a result, trust in the media is the lowest that it has ever been in the entire history of our country. At this point, most people realize that our largest media outlets are going to push the agenda of the globalists that own them, and they are going to be extremely hesitant to expose the big pharmaceutical companies and other giant corporations that spend billions of dollars to advertise on their networks.

The good news is that we have entered a period of time when the truth is coming out about so many things. The American people are now demanding transparency and accountability from major institutions throughout our society, and that is a wonderful thing. It is especially gratifying to see the mainstream media publicly admit mistakes that they have made. The following are 8 “conspiracy theories” that the mainstream media has been forced to admit are actually true…

#1 The Lab Leak Theory

For years, we were told that the lab leak theory was just “disinformation”. Of course now it has come out that certain individuals in very prominent positions waged a relentless campaign to discredit it. They were desperate to keep a lid on what really happened, but now the truth has come out. In fact, at this point even the CIA is publicly admitting that it is more likely than not that the lab leak theory is accurate…

The CIA has shifted its stance about the origin of the virus that causes Covid-19, NBC News reported on Saturday. The intelligence agency now believes that the coronavirus escaped from a Chinese lab, a shift from its previous stance, in which it did not take a position.

“CIA assesses with low confidence that a research-related origin of the COVID-19 pandemic is more likely than a natural origin based on the available body of reporting,” a CIA spokesperson said in a statement to NBC News.

#2 MKUltra

For decades, anyone that went on the air and talked about MKUltra was considered to be a nut.

But now hundreds of government documents prove that this CIA mind control program really did exist…

Newly compiled records are spilling the beans on one of the CIA’s most notorious and shadowy programs: MKUltra, a wild attempt to develop mind control techniques through drugs, hypnosis, and psychological manipulation.

The collection was published by the Digital National Security Archive of The George Washington University in December 2024, detailing more than 1,200 documents on the CIA’s foray into behavioral and mind control experiments from 1953 until the 1970s.

Much of the information comes from records gathered by John Marks, a former State Department official who initiated the first Freedom of Information Act requests on the topic and authored the 1979 book The Search for the Manchurian Candidate.

We are actually very fortunate that these documents still exist, because in 1973 the director of the CIA specifically ordered that all records related to MKUltra must be destroyed…

In 1973, the director of the CIA, Richard Helms, ordered that all documents related to MKUltra be destroyed. However, a cache documents was discovered following a freedom of information request in 1977, which led to Senate hearings. MKUltra was declassified in 2001.

#3 Fluoride in Our Drinking Water Is Bad

For ages, authorities insisted that putting fluoride in our drinking water was good for us. But now a federal judge has ruled that there is evidence that fluoride in the water could harm the intellectual development of our children. The following comes from CNN…

A federal judge has ordered the US Environmental Protection Agency to further regulate fluoride in drinking water because high levels could pose a risk to the intellectual development of children.

US District Judge Edward Chen cautioned that it’s not certain that the amount of fluoride typically added to water is causing lower IQ in kids, but he concluded that mounting research points to an unreasonable risk that it could be. He ordered the EPA to take steps to lower that risk, but didn’t say what those measures should be.

#4 There Are Cancer Causing Chemicals in Our Drinking Water

Over the past several years, the mainstream media has actually begun reporting on all of the nasty things that are showing up in the water that is coming out of our taps.

In fact, a study that was conducted in 2019 actually found 22 separate carcinogens in our drinking water…

Increased cancer risks were linked to 22 carcinogens found in the drinking water.
Contaminants included arsenic; radioactive materials, such as uranium and radium; and disinfectant byproducts, which are substances produced when chlorine and other additives are used in the treatment process.
Systems that rely on groundwater sources, such as aquifers, have higher concentrations of arsenic and radioactive materials and contribute to a higher risk of cancer.
Systems that rely on surface water sources, such as reservoirs, have a lower risk, but serve larger populations.
Water systems where droughts are more common may pose a higher risk, in part because drier conditions create an environment where contaminants become concentrated as water levels are reduced.

#5 The “Dumbing Down” Of America

For a lot of years, many of us in the alternative media have been talking about the “dumbing down” of America, but the mainstream media has continued to defend our system of education.

Unfortunately, it has become exceedingly clear that our kids are not alright. The following comes from the Wall Street Journal…

The reading skills of American students are deteriorating further, according to new national test scores that show no improvement in a yearslong slide.

The 67% of eighth-graders who scored at a basic or better reading level in 2024 was the lowest share since testing began in 1992, results from a closely watched federal exam show. Only 60% of fourth-graders hit that benchmark, nearing record lows.

The declines started before the pandemic, continued during it, and have persisted since.

#6 Prescription Drugs Kill Large Numbers Of Americans Every Single Year

For decades, alternative health practitioners and “conspiracy theorists” have been asserting that negative reactions to prescription drugs are one of the leading causes of death in the United States. Thankfully, the mainstream media has been forced to admit this as well. The following comes from a Vanity Fair article entitled “Deadly Medicine“…

Prescription drugs kill some 200,000 Americans every year. Will that number go up, now that most clinical trials are conducted overseas—on sick Russians, homeless Poles, and slum-dwelling Chinese—in places where regulation is virtually nonexistent, the F.D.A. doesn’t reach, and “mistakes” can end up in pauper’s graves?

#7 Aspartame Is Not Good For Our Health

Many of us have been warning about aspartame for ages, but the mainstream media just kept defending it. Well, after reviewing the evidence the International Agency for Research on Cancer was forced to classify aspartame as “possibly carcinogenic to humans”…

Assessments of the health impacts of the non-sugar sweetener aspartame are released today by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Joint Expert Committee on Food Additives (JECFA). Citing “limited evidence” for carcinogenicity in humans, IARC classified aspartame as possibly carcinogenic to humans (IARC Group 2B) and JECFA reaffirmed the acceptable daily intake of 40 mg/kg body weight.

#8 Operation Paperclip

Did you know that hundreds of Nazi scientists were smuggled out of Germany and brought to the United States in the aftermath of World War II?

And did you know that many of those scientists were used “to help develop America’s arsenal of rockets and other biological and chemical weapons”?…

As World War II was entering its final stages, American and British organizations teamed up to scour occupied Germany for as much military, scientific and technological development research as they could uncover.

Trailing behind Allied combat troops, groups such as the Combined Intelligence Objectives Subcommittee (CIOS) began confiscating war-related documents and materials and interrogating scientists as German research facilities were seized by Allied forces. One enlightening discovery—recovered from a toilet at Bonn University—was the Osenberg List: a catalogue of scientists and engineers that had been put to work for the Third Reich.

In a covert affair originally dubbed Operation Overcast but later renamed Operation Paperclip, roughly 1,600 of these German scientists (along with their families) were brought to the United States to work on America’s behalf during the Cold War. The program was run by the newly-formed Joint Intelligence Objectives Agency (JIOA), whose goal was to harness German intellectual resources to help develop America’s arsenal of rockets and other biological and chemical weapons, and to ensure such coveted information did not fall into the hands of the Soviet Union.

I could list many other examples, but I think that you probably get my point by now.

Just because something is labeled a “conspiracy theory” does not mean that you can automatically dismiss it.

In fact, many of those that love to accuse others of spreading “disinformation” are some of the biggest liars of all.

In this day and age, it is so important to think for yourself and it is so important to know why you believe what you believe.

Let me give you a piece of advice that really helped me.

Question everything.

Hold on to what is true, and discard what is false.

We live at a time when deception is running rampant, and it is getting worse with each passing day.

The Secret Of ‘Manifestation’ Is Occultism and The Worship of Self

The more you listen to celebrities, the more you realize that they really are in bondage to some very strange ideas. The practice of “manifesting” is not a new idea, but its popularity continues as its so-called practitioners continue to proclaim its efficacy in their lives. Celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey, Jim Carrey, Lady Gaga, Tom Holland, Drake and many others claim they have had success using the process of manifestation. So, what is it? Well, Ariana Grande sang about it in her mediocre (I’m being kind) song entitled “Pete Davidson”: “I thought you into my life. Look at my mind. No better place or a time. Look how they align. Universe must have my back.”

So, if you have not already concluded what manifestation is, it is the so-called ability to cosmically attract success in life through positive self-talk, visualization and symbolic action (ie. acting as if something is true). Adherents believe that by thinking positive thoughts, feeling positive emotions, and aligning personal energy with that of the universe, they can “manifest” their dreams.

I am sure you are all aware (or soon will be) that the practice of manifestation is unbiblical. But there is also a deeper layer to manifestation and that is its relationship to another idea – the “law of attraction”. Although this idea dates back to the 1800s, it was popularized by Australian author Rhonda Byrne who misled the world through her film and subsequent book entitled “The Secret”. It has been called the book that changed the world – a title which should only be reserved for the precious and preserved Word of God. She was inspired to write her book at a time when everything in her life had fallen apart physically, emotionally and financially. After her father then died suddenly, her daughter bizarrely suggested she read a 1910 book written by Wallace D. Wattles entitled “The Science of Getting Rich”.

What nonsense did Rhonda learn in his book? Here are some quotes from it:

“If you neglect this study, you are derelict in your duty to yourself, to God and humanity; for you can render to God and humanity no greater service than to make the most of yourself.”
“It is the desire of God that you should get rich. He wants you to get rich because he can express himself better through you if you have plenty of things to use in giving him expression. He can live more in you if you have unlimited command of the means of life.”
“The universe desires you to have everything you want to have.”
“You can serve God and man in no more effective way than by getting rich; that is, if you get rich by the creative method and not by the competitive one.”

Not long after Wattles released his book, Napoleon Hill released a book in 1937 entitled “Think and Grow Rich” (which remains a bestseller to this day). Are you starting to see a pattern develop? The so-called powers of manifestation and law of attraction always wants to prioritize material wealth. Anyway, one of the most demonstratively false and dangerous things in the book is Hill’s idea that: “Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve.”

Where did this idea spring from? One day, Hill was confronted in his study by an unexpected and uninvited intruder. Hill claims that an emissary came across the astral plane. In a voice that “sounded like chimes of great music,” this visitor from another dimension declared: “I come from the Great School of Masters. I am one of the Council of Thirty-Three who serve the Great School and its initiates on the physical plane.” Hill was informed that he had been “under the guidance of the Great School” for years and had been chosen by them to give the formula of success, the “Supreme Secret,” to the world: that “anything the human mind can believe, the human mind can achieve.” I think you and I know exactly who Napoleon was visited by!

As you can see, according to the law of attraction, our thoughts supposedly determine what we attract in life, be that bad or good things, poverty or riches, illness or health, abusive or nourishing relationships. Therefore, this “mind over matter” approach claims that our thoughts are omnipotent and have the power to shape the external world. And where do these ideas spring from? Occultism.

In fact, as one occultist wrote in his book marketed as a practical guide for newcomers to occultism: “There is a vast spiritual landscape that we can access only through occult methods. No amount of theoretical knowledge in philosophy, theology or modern science can bring us closer to true power in this world or spiritual elevation. We have to rely on magic to access our dormant potential. The following chapters will reveal practical ways in which you can access untapped powers of your mind in order to manifest your deepest visions and desires in the physical universe.”

The primary danger of manifestation and the law of attraction lies in its promotion of self-reliance and the belief that we can control our lives independently of God. However, the well-known verses of Proverbs 3:5-6 dispel that idea: “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”

Adopting the law of attraction means that people are relying on the erroneous idea that there is a universal energy force that we can manipulate by our thoughts and feelings. Additionally, we see the origins of this practice steeped in occultism which the Bible clearly exhorts God’s people to stay well clear of because the real power behind it is demonic. So, if you have any of the books mentioned, my suggestion is: burn them!

Oh, How He Loves Us!

“We love him, because he first loved us” (1 John 4:19).

February is a short month but one with many celebrations, starting with Groundhog Day. That isn’t a major holiday but one I loved when I was young. It was fun thinking that on a certain day, a rodent could predict the weather. Well, that may or may not be true, but it is fun.

In America, we celebrate President’s Day. We used to celebrate Abraham Lincoln’s birthday separately from George Washington’s birthday, but that gave us too many holidays in one month, so we lumped all the presidents together into one holiday.

Then there’s that day to celebrate love. Valentine’s Day. Heads up, men, it’s almost here. Are you thinking of the perfect romantic evening with your lady love? My husband always got off easy on Valentine’s Day. A peanut butter cup was all I needed to be happy. Sometimes he would buy a few red roses if he wanted to splurge. I always baked him a heart-shaped cake.

Let’s talk about love. People “love” many things. A car, a dog, or a favorite restaurant are all things that can make us feel warm and fuzzy inside, but is that the feeling of true love? They are all temporary and not very meaningful. What about true love…the love of God? Have you ever given that pure and perfect love much thought? God loved you before you were ever conceived and had special plans for your life. God told the prophet Jeremiah, “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations” (Jeremiah 1:5).

What plans does God have for you? He loves you with a special love that cannot be matched by human love.

OH, HOW HE LOVES YOU AND ME

He gave His life, what more could He give;

Oh, how He loves you

Oh, how He loves me,

Oh, how He loves you and me.

God’s love for us cannot be compared to the human emotion we feel. We humans can feel a deep love for our spouse, our parents, and our children, but there’s no human love that can compare to God’s divine love. He loves us even when we aren’t faithful to Him.

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).

Quite often, when a person speaks of love, they really mean lust, or else they speak of a superficial love for a car or a dog or a boyfriend/girlfriend. The deeper love of God is something very special. Jesus came and called us to be His Bride, not a one-night stand. The Apostle Paul uses Christ’s love as an example of how a marriage should work.

“Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; that he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word” (Ephesians 5:25-26).

Wives are to submit to their own husbands. A God-honoring man is easy to respect and trust.

“Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing” (Ephesians 5:22-24).

In our society today, woman’s lib and a woke agenda have done much to destroy family. If a man puts Christ first, it’s easy for a woman to submit to his leadership. This doesn’t mean the husband berates or brutalizes the wife into submission, but it does mean there’s a mutual love and respect for each other and a true love for God.

How often do you stop and think about Christ’s love for you?

If you’re like me, it’s not often enough. When I do think about it, I’m overwhelmed. Jesus showed us love in all He did. He healed people who were very ill, no matter how tired He was. He showed love to the unlovable. Outcasts of society, such as lepers, were touched by His healing hands. Demon-possessed people were set free from the demon that caused them to harm themselves and others. Too often, people like to be forgiven but then feel free to continue sinning.

An adulterous woman was forgiven instead of being stoned, but Jesus told her to stop her sin. “…go, and sin no more” (John 8:11b).

You see, the love God has for us is perfect. He loves us in spite of our sin, but He doesn’t want our sin to control us. Sin separates us from God. Everybody has a sin or two that needs to be forgiven. When we come to Jesus with a repentant heart, He forgives. Repentance means to change your mind about the sin. Instead of seeing it as “just being human,” we see it as a stumbling block between us and abundant life in Christ. Oh, how Jesus loves us!

Jesus to Calvary did go,

His love for mankind to show.

What He did there brought hope from despair.

Oh, how He loves you

Oh, how He loves me,

Oh, how He loves you and me.

How do we show someone we love them?

One way is to talk with them and get to know all about them. Do you love Jesus? He speaks to us through Scripture, and we talk to Him through prayer. An important part of love is to listen. Jesus will always listen to you, but you need to listen to Him too. When you love someone, you set time aside to be with them, and put aside your personal comfort if your loved one has a need. In the case of humanity, we had a very big need. We were dead in sin.

“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23).

We are sinners and doomed to eternal death. Because He loves us, Jesus laid down His life for us. He chose to shed His blood on Calvary to take our sin away. Only God could save us from eternal death, and that’s exactly what Jesus did.

“For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly” (Romans 5:6).

That is perfect love. Shedding sin-tainted human blood won’t bring salvation to anybody, only God’s pure blood, untainted by sin, can take our sin away. When we share the Gospel with others, we give someone else the chance to find salvation through Jesus. It might take a little effort on your part, but think of what it cost Jesus to bring you to salvation. He set aside His life in Heaven to enter His creation. He lived among us, then allowed Himself to be crucified.

“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13).

He forgave those who condemned Him and those who pounded the nails. Oh, how He loves you and me.

Oh, how He loves you and me,

Oh, how He loves you and me.

He gave His life, what more could He give;

Oh, how He loves you

Oh, how He loves me, Oh, how He loves you and me.

Do you love Him? I hope so. Does He love you? Absolutely. He gave His life; what more could He give? In gratitude, give your life to Him.

Daily Jot: The American Chronicles: GPS or Map?

As someone who grew up in a time when a good map was a travel necessity, and the AAA Trip Tik was king, a GPS is a little difficult to trust. First, there is having to put in your destination. Where to? It asks. You begin typing in an address and then it kicks it out because you didn’t have the right state. Then you have to figure out how to put in the right state, and start all over again. Sometimes there are two locations that show up the same, but you know darn well neither of them are where you want to go. The whole process is time-consuming and we are constantly x-ing back for misspelling or whatever. It doesn’t give you a whole lot of confidence that this will get you where you want to go. Then it becomes reality.

There have been times when we have been traveling to a location and our RV GPS goes crazy. One time, we were headed to Emerald Isle, NC, for example, and there was a period of maybe 20 miles where the GPS had us travelling across a bridge down into some river flats and it then just went off road and was spinning in circles. Another time, we were driving to a campground and the GPS told us there was no highway and it had us driving for miles through a field on the screen, but we were actually on a highway. It really gets unnerving when you are driving along in this no man’s land and a body of water suddenly shows up on the screen, but there is nothing of the sort where you are driving.

We eagerly anticipated turning into the Plymouth Visitors Center as we wound through the narrow streets in our RV, following the GPS navigation. Then finally, the voice declared, “You have arrived.” But we were on a road outside of Plymouth with the ocean on our left and trees on our right. After a half-hour, and both of our phone “Maps” aps, we actually “arrived.” How about the time we had been driving far longer through North Carolina and into Virginia hoping we were coming to a nice relaxing campground at the end of the day? The excitement built as the GPS proudly stated, “In a half a mile, your destination is on the right.” A half mile later, the GPS declared, “Your destination is on the right. You have arrived.” The destination was an abandoned (I think) camping trailer sitting among several junk cars, trucks and tractors.

Sometimes, however, the good old map is also not quite the answer. We were about half way on the hike when we came to a clearing. The trail map kind of left out a connecting path back to the Visitor’s Center. I was trying to figure it out when along came a lady driving an ATV. 80 year-old Camp Host Dorothy Cogswell was at our service. I told her we were trying to find our way back to the Visitor’s Center. Like something out of the Wizard of Oz, Dorothy pointed and said, “Well you can go that way or you can go this way.” I answered “this way.” So she told us to hop in and she would take us to the entrance of the trail because it was quite a distance. Herein is something no map or GPS can do—human interaction and kindness. That will show you the way every day. Map or GPS? Nothing says you’ve arrived like a real person.

Daily Devotion: A Gift for You

Name a reason you might not use a gift that someone gave you. (You can imagine that you’re playing Family Feud, if it helps you think better.)

Maybe the gift isn’t practical—you have no use for it. Maybe it’s not your style or size. Maybe you think you don’t deserve it. Maybe you don’t have a good relationship with the gift giver.

Now name a reason you might not use a gift that God gave you. That’s a harder one, isn’t it? It’s not a theoretical exercise. God has given you a gift. The apostle Peter wrote, “God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another” (1 Peter 4:10 NLT).

Since God is the One who gave it, your gift is perfectly practical. And since He created and knows everything about you, it’s exactly your size and style. It’s true you don’t deserve it—but then again, none of us deserves any good thing from God. He gives because He’s merciful and gracious. And if you want to enjoy a healthy relationship with your Gift Giver, you’ll learn how to maximize your gift.

If that’s not motivation enough, there’s always James’ words in James 4:17: “Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.”

There are countless people who will benefit from your putting your spiritual gift to work. If you choose to ignore your gift, you’re choosing to ignore them. You wouldn’t dream of neglecting your spouse or your family members or the people closest to you. And you should carry that same attitude toward the people in your church.

Romans 12:4–5 says, “Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other” (NLT). Christianity is not an individual pursuit. Everyone who trusts Christ becomes a member of His body. Biology teaches us that each part of the human body plays an important role. Your eyes, ears, fingers, toes, and internal organs all perform vital functions.

God’s Word teaches us that each member of Christ’s body plays an important role. Your role is determined by the spiritual gift God has given you. In 1 Corinthians 12:18, the apostle Paul says, “But our bodies have many parts, and God has put each part just where he wants it” (NLT). One verse earlier, he asks, “If the whole body were an eye, how would you hear? Or if your whole body were an ear, how would you smell anything?” (NLT).

His point is that God has a plan for His people to use their individual gifts to benefit the church, the body of Christ. He helps mesh believers’ different gifts so that they work together as one.

The takeaway is that we all have a part to play in the body of Christ. God has seen to that. If God has given you a gift, it’s irresponsible to not use it. Look at the words of James 4:17 again. And then ask God to show you what your supernatural gift is so that you can begin to use it.
