Barbarism, Counter-Terrorism Operations, and God’s Hand of Intervention

Shalom from the Jezreel Valley! It has been a very difficult week here in Israel, so I am going to get right to it. By tomorrow, Israel should be receiving the final four of this week’s ten hostages. In return, Hamas will receive 640 terrorists, 151 with blood on their hands. The difference between those whom Israel will welcome home and those Hamas will receive goes beyond the numbers. The primary distinction is that all of the Palestinian terrorists are alive, while four of our hostages are not.

Hamas terrorists = 640, Israeli hostages = 10.

Living Hamas terrorists = 640, living Israeli hostages = 6.

There is a plethora of sins that I blame Hamas for. But this discrepancy is not one of them. They are simply taking advantage of the situation that the Israeli government has created for them. You’d be a fool to agree to a 10 for 10 swap if you knew that you could get another 630 thrown into the bargain. This is the world that Israel has created for itself. Wisdom says that you don’t pay for hostages. Why? Just look at the numbers above.

Do I blame Netanyahu’s government for doing what they’ve done? I don’t, because they are playing with the hand they’ve been dealt. These lopsided deals over human lives began before Bibi was in office. Now that they are standard, it is impossible to stop without simply saying, “Sorry, citizens and families of the hostages, we’re going to have to let your sons and husbands be brutally murdered so that we can make a point.” That is a public relations pit that you’ll never climb back out of. But, more than that, it is a moral gut punch that few consciences could survive.

With this swap, we end Phase 1 of the deal. Hamas is still holding 59 of our people in captivity, 24 of whom we believe are still alive. The terrorists say, “We’d love to give you back the rest of your people. But we want three things in return. First, we want all Israeli troops out of Gaza, never to return. Second, Hamas must stay in power. Third, we want Gaza to be reconstructed.” Israel’s reply is, “First, we aren’t leaving. Second, you aren’t staying. Third, Gaza will be reconstructed, but Donald Trump has a much greater chance of getting it done than you do.”

In other words, we are at a stand-off. The liberal left in Israel is screaming to just pull out. Getting the hostages back is worth any price, they say. Those with common sense counter that doing so will just encourage more hostage taking. The liberal left responds by forcing Netanyahu to come in to testify at a bogus trial while he has a nation in crisis to lead. It’s so aggravating. It reminds me of the screeching of the media in both Israel and the United States. When you have no true facts or logic to back up your position, you yell and attack and make stupid stuff up. That is where Israel is as a nation right now.

Except for yesterday during the procession that took the bodies of Shiri, Kfir, and Ariel Bibas to their final resting place in Kibbutz Nir Oz. Thousands upon thousands of people lined the roads on the long drive to the south. No eye was dry. No chest was unclenched. It was a nation filled with sorrow and pain. Everyone knew how these three innocents were strangled by hand, then mutilated.

There is no dealing with these terrorists. They are worse than animals. When they released the six living hostages earlier this week, they brought two more captives who were forced to remain in a vehicle. As those on stage were forced to show their appreciation for their captors before being passed on to the Red Cross, these other two hostages were mocked as they were required to watch. Once the ceremony was completed, the two hostages were taken back down to the tunnels to resume their captivity. It was simply barbarous.

I don’t know what will happen from here. Steve Witkoff, special envoy of President Trump, says the Palestinians need to get out of Gaza. Saudi Arabia and the UAE say they’ve got to go. But Egypt and Qatar disagree, saying they’ve got to stay. Hamas is experiencing infighting now that some of the leaders are recognizing the price they paid for October 7. There are factions in Hezbollah for jumping in on October 8. It’s all coming to a head and something will have to explode somewhere.

Enemies in Judea and Samaria

I am amazed at how quickly the attempted mass casualty event in Israel fell out of the news cycle. I guess since it is Israel, if no one is actually killed then it isn’t real news. Thursday night, terrorists from Tulkarm in Samaria snuck into Israel armed with explosives.

Hundreds would have been instantaneously killed with many more wounded. Thankfully, these terrorists were idiots. The detonators were attached to analog clocks, and three of the Palestinians accidentally set their bombs to PM instead of AM. So those bombs went off when no one was on the buses. The explosions led to an immediate halt of public transportation. Soon after, the full plot was discovered. It must be noted, though, that these lives were not saved due to Israeli policework or information gathered by the intelligence services. It was purely God’s intervention and the terrorists’ stupidity.

Judea and Samaria are becoming more and more dangerous. Just this past week, a 100 kg explosive device was discovered in the area. The bombs planted in the thwarted terror attack were likely smuggled from Iran through Iraq, Jordan, and into the West Bank. Cities like Jenin, Tubas, and Tulkarm are hotbeds of terrorism, and for the first time in probably 20 years IDF tanks are rolling through their streets. One Hamas and PIJ hide after another is being leveled, and prisoners are being rounded up. If the terrorists aren’t careful, parts of the West Bank are going to begin looking like what’s left of Gaza. This is a threat that must be dealt with. Many believe that the mass terror event was supposed to be a diversion that would allow the enemy to pour out of the West Bank and into Israel in another October 7 attack. We cannot let that happen.

Trolling in Lebanon

There’s trolling, then there’s master trolling. When tens of thousands of Hezbollah supporters gathered in a stadium for the funeral of Hassan Nasrallah, former leader of the terrorist group, the Israeli Air Force sent four fighter jets to fly low over the throng. But these weren’t just any fighters. They were the same ones that dropped the bombs that brought about the death that led to the reason the people were all gathered. It was a brilliant reminder that Israel still controls the skies over Lebanon.

Prime Minister Netanyahu received severe criticism from former Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant over the timing of the pager operation. Gallant felt that if it had been carried out months earlier, the war may not have become so intense. However, on Tuesday, Dedi Barnea, head of the Mossad, came out in support of the timing saying that it would not have had near the impact at the beginning of the war than it did later. This was a much-needed affirmation for Netanyahu. In one more interesting piece of Lebanon news, US special envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, hinted recently that Lebanon and Syria might join the Abraham Accords. That would be a momentous day.

Netanyahu’s Vision for Syria

For Israel, it’s all about cushion. Since the inception of the modern state, we have constantly lived with our enemies pressed up against our border. We’ve had enough. In Lebanon, Netanyahu is leaving IDF detachments inside the country in five strategic locations to provide safety at the Israeli border. In Gaza, there is no way that Israel will allow Hamas back against our southern border. And when it comes to Syria, all of southern Syria must be demilitarized. Netanyahu is insisting that the new HTS regime not have an armed presence south of Damascus. Part of this is for the safety of Israel and part for the safety of the Druze population. Because the Druze are an Islamic sect, they are prone to attack by both Shiite and Sunni Muslims. They are currently depending upon Israel for their security, but they want to take their safety into their own hands. Netanyahu wants to see that happen, not just for the Syrian Druze but for those in Lebanon if they will refrain from helping Hezbollah.

The Quiet Genocide

You’ve often seen me write “No Jews – No News”. In other words, if the bad guys are not Israeli then the media really doesn’t care. I’ve discovered another side of this, but it doesn’t have the same ring to it. “Black African Christian Genocide – No News”. Not nearly as catchy, but just as despicable. On February 13 in the Democratic Republic of Congo, seventy Christians were kidnapped, tied up, taken to a church, and decapitated with knives by an ISIS-affiliated Islamist group. Where’s the outrage? Where’s the marching in the streets? Is it because the protesters and the media only care about black people outside of Africa? Or could it be because they are Christian? I’m guessing it’s both. In fact, in the 20th century, more Christians were massacred than in all the previous centuries combined. The media doesn’t care about genocide. They’re too busy pushing their agendas.

European Shift

The ruling Social Democratic Party (SPD) in Germany suffered what Chancellor Olaf Scholz called “a bitter defeat” on Sunday. The mainstream conservative party, Christian Democratic Union (CDU/CSU), won a significant victory putting Friedrich Merz in position to be the next chancellor. The far-right, anti-immigrant Alternative for Germany (AfD) placed a strong second demonstrating the exhaustion that much of Germany and Europe have for the expanding Muslim takeover. Interestingly, the AfD took much of what used to be East Germany demonstrating a lingering divide between the once-bifurcated nation.

Europe is in trouble. Unfortunately, they are shoring up against the wrong enemy. Rather than looking at the danger from inside their countries, they are focused on the United States and Donald Trump. The speech of Vice President J.D. Vance last week scared many of them. The presumptive next leader of Germany is seeking full independence from the United States and is even suggesting that Europe may need to develop a European-only alternative to NATO. That suggestion has those of us who understand Bible prophecy and the coming of the Antichrist saying “Hmmm.”

Iran Must Be Dealt with Now

Iran is now weeks away from having enough 90% Uranium-235 to build a nuclear weapon and is developing even more that could bring them to a place where they have enough for six nuclear warheads. The bombing campaign to destroy their capabilities would be very extensive. The U.S. could use their B-2 stealth bombers to carry the GBU-57 bombs necessary to demolish the numerous sites. Israel could also drop the bombs, but it would also likely additionally need an extended and devastating conventional war. Action must be taken very soon, or it will be too late.

Iraq, Russia, and the Rest

Let me end with a rapid-fire round. The U.S. Secretary of State and the Iraqi Prime Minister agreed on the need for a rapid opening of the Iraq-Turkey oil pipeline. Trump met with Putin and tomorrow Zelenskyy is scheduled to come to Washington. Meanwhile, Ukraine has agreed to give up 50% of its mineral rights to the U.S. even though Trump says that there will be no new weapons sent to the country.

Last summer I, like most people, thought the USA was dying a slow death. Every facet of our government was in an unbiblical and unapologetic state of decline.

I was hopeful Trump could get elected to slow down some of the Satanic influence and ungodly principles being shoved down our throats. I have to admit I prayed prayers that the Lord would give us a reprieve.

In my wildest imagination I never dreamed the Lord would answer our prayers with this much happening so fast! We can only marvel at all the decisions President Trump is making.

It’s almost surreal as it seems every day comes another pinch-me zinger. And much of what he’s accomplishing directly lines up with Biblical prophecy.

This is especially interesting as now President Trump is expanding the USA’s conservative turn, a rejection of Globalists/Satanists influence around the world.

Germany just voted in a conservative government (4). Argentina is following the USA’s conservative path. Egypt wants to rebuild Gaza. Amazing.

Trump almost single-handedly stopped all the DEI and Transgender nonsense in its tracks. And countries around the world are following his lead. He’s basically saying, “Wake up, the [woke] king has no clothes.”

The Lord apparently felt the world was moving too fast toward world government, or at least toward Klaus Schwab’s New World Order.

Of course we don't know what's ahead economically for the USA. Trump has huge monetary obstacles to overcome (3). But based on his first few weeks...you have to say we have nothing to lose, if we don't do something, it WILL eventually collapse. So let him run with his plan.

Just to be clear, I am in no way implying President Trump could be the Antichrist. There’s zero chance of that because he doesn’t fit the description of being homosexual and from the Middle East.(2)

However, the New World Leader will probably have Trump-like appeal. Obama, of course, may still be in the running. 🤔

One of our most watched Steeling the Mind Bible Conference presentations of all time is by Andy Woods, entitled “Is 2 Thes. 2 Apostasy or Rapture?”

Let no one in any way deceive you, for it [The Day of the Lord] will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, 2Th. 2:3b

Andy shows that the word “apostasy” means the “Rapture,” and that it must happen before the New World Leader/Antichrist will be revealed.(1)

Therefore, no one will know the identity of the NWL until after the Rapture. If you do figure it out, you’ve got bigger problems because you've missed the Rapture! 🙂

The most important thing to gain from the above article link is understanding “double reference” or “duel prophecy fulfillment.” One scripture may have two fulfillments. Sometimes you have to dig a little to figure out what a verse is saying.

"It is the glory of God to conceal a matter..." Prov. 25:2

So applying latter-day Babylon verses to the USA we see a rich and powerful nation that affects the entire globe…right up until the Rapture.

If our hypothesis is correct, the USA will be successful with its worldwide influence, right up until we split the clouds. Then America dies a quick and horrible death.

in one day her plagues will come, pestilence and mourning and famine, and she will be burned up with fire; Rev. 18:8

Here are six verses that describe the USA’s world influence in the last days before our exciting skyward disappearing act.

“…the [military] hammer of the whole earth Jer. 50:23

The USA has some 750 foreign military bases worldwide spread across 80 nations.

He says, “You are My war-club, My weapon of war; And with you I shatter nations, and with you I destroy kingdoms.” Jer. 51:20

The Hebrew definition of “war-club” is “shatterer.” The U.S. has shattered several nations through the years … Germany, Japan, Iraq, etc.

Babylon has been a golden cup in the hand of the LORD, intoxicating all the earth. The nations have drunk of her wine; Jer. 51:7a

The meaning of this verse, applied to the USA, is that God has used America’s wealth and power as a cup of wrath, intoxicating nations worldwide.

God is always in control and has allowed the USA much material success, as well as being an influential Christian base for worldwide missions.

Scripture also describes the USA being a large trader of luxurious goods worldwide. We know that because this verse describes what was being traded just before the Rapture.

“And the merchants of the earth weep and mourn over her, because no one buys their cargoes any more —cargoes of gold and silver and precious stones and pearls and fine linen and purple and silk and scarlet, and every kind of citron wood and every article of ivory and every article made from very costly wood and bronze and iron and marble, and cinnamon and spice and incense and perfume and frankincense and wine and olive oil and fine flour and wheat and cattle and sheep, and cargoes of horses and chariots and slaves and human lives." Rev. 18:11-13

But, unfortunately, a lot of the USA’s material success has grown dark through the years. That description above includes human lives being trafficked (Rev. 18:13). We’re also known worldwide for exporting massive amounts of pornographic material. And it’s all this darkness that intoxicates the whole earth.

all the nations have drunk of the wine of the passion of her immorality, and the kings of the earth have committed acts of immorality with her, and the merchants of the earth have become rich by the wealth of her sensuality.” Rev. 18:3

But the biggest sin by the USA is her distributing “sorcery/drugs” worldwide—to “all the nations.”

your merchants were the great men of the earth, because all the nations were deceived by your sorcery [Greek=“drugs”]. Rev. 18:23b

The USA is destroyed post-Rapture in one hour.

for in one hour such great wealth has been laid waste!’ Rev 18:17

The whole earth will mourn as her destruction reverberates over the whole earth.

the kings of the earth, who committed acts of immorality and lived sensuously with her, will weep and lament over her Rev. 18:9a

all things that were luxurious and splendid have passed away from you and men will no longer find them. Rev 18:14b

the merchants of the earth weep and mourn over her, because no one buys their cargoes any more. Rev.18:11

So if we’re correct in our Babylon/USA hypothesis, the USA will be fully operational right up to the Rapture. Trump could very well set us on an amazing economic path until our dumbfounding exit.

Matt. 24 and Luke 17 promise the world will have a working economy, lights, food, drink, weddings and construction right up until the Rapture.

Then Revelation 18 explains after the Rapture the economy stops, the lights go out, food becomes scarce, construction and weddings cease.

The point is—Trump and Vance taking their agenda to Europe and the Middle East is consistent with what the Bible says the USA will be doing at the time of the Rapture. So Trump's being used by God to slow down the latest attempt at global government, until His pre-determined perfect timing has arrived.

To me latter day Bible prophecy about events surrounding the days before and after the Rapture seems clear as a bell. But not everyone sees it. Jesus will come as a “thief in the night” to non-Believers.

For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night. 1Th. 5:2

Most people on the earth have no clue what’s dead ahead. Or that what President Trump is doing here, in Europe and the Middle East was prophesied 2000 to 2600 years ago.

In a split-second people’s lives who are not born again will be changed forever. Nothing will ever be the same again.

But scripture tells us many Born-again Believers will see all the latter day Bible prophecies coming together.

But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day would overtake you like a thief; for you are all sons of light and sons of day. We are not of night nor of darkness; 1Th. 5:4-5

God has revealed last days’ truth in His Word. Believers have Holy Spirit illumination of scripture! PTL!

For God has not destined us for wrath, 1Th. 5:9

Rather, He will rescue us prior to the horrible judgment coming on the world.

Jesus, who rescues us from the wrath to come. 1Thes. 1:10

Therefore comfort one another with these words. 1Th. 4:18

God’s Word is comforting!!!!

A Rare Parade of Planets Reminds Us of Prophetic Signs in The Skies

A stunning celestial event is about to unfold, and skywatchers worldwide are preparing for a once-in-a-lifetime sight. On February 28, 2025, all seven planets of our solar system—Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune—will align in a rare planetary parade. But beyond its astronomical wonder, could this alignment carry a deeper, biblical significance?

A Rare Astronomical Phenomenon

Planetary alignments occur when multiple planets appear along a similar path in the night sky. While seeing two or three planets together is relatively common, a seven-planet alignment is a rare event that won’t happen again for many years.

NASA explains that this phenomenon occurs because the planets orbit the sun on a relatively flat plane, causing them to periodically line up from Earth's perspective. While the alignment won’t form a perfect straight line, the planets will be visible across the sky, creating a breathtaking display.

To witness this event:

- Look to the sky about 30 minutes after sunset for the best chance to spot Mercury, Venus, Mars, and Jupiter with the naked eye.

- Uranus and Neptune will require binoculars or a telescope.

- Using sky-watching apps like Stellarium or Sky Tonight can help locate each planet’s position.

Cosmic Signs and Biblical Prophecy

While astronomers marvel at this celestial dance, many believers see it as more than just an astronomical curiosity. The Bible speaks of signs in the heavens—God’s way of communicating with humanity. From Genesis to Revelation, celestial events often accompany major spiritual or prophetic moments.

The Purpose of Signs in the Heavens

Genesis 1:14 tells us:

"Then God said, ‘Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years.’”

Throughout Scripture, the sun, moon, and stars have served as markers of divine appointments. The Star of Bethlehem heralded the birth of Christ, and Jesus Himself prophesied cosmic disturbances preceding His return:

"There will be signs in the sun, the moon, and the stars… the powers of the heavens will be shaken." (Luke 21:25-26)

Could this rare planetary alignment be another sign?

The Blood Red Moon at Purim – A Prophetic Warning?

Adding to the intrigue, a blood red moon (total lunar eclipse) will occur on March 14-15, 2025, coinciding with the Jewish festival of Purim—a celebration of divine deliverance in the Book of Esther.

Blood moons have long been associated with biblical prophecy. Joel 2:31 warns:

"The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord comes."

The 2014-2015 tetrad (four consecutive blood moons coinciding with Jewish feasts) was seen by many as a prophetic sign for Israel. Could this upcoming blood moon at Purim signal another significant event on God’s prophetic timeline?

The Mystery of Wormwood – A Coming Celestial Judgment?

Revelation 8:10-11 describes a great star, Wormwood, falling from heaven and poisoning the waters:

"Then the third angel sounded: And a great star fell from heaven, burning like a torch… and a third of the waters became wormwood, and many men died from the water."

Some theologians speculate that Wormwood could be a comet or asteroid impact, another celestial sign warning of God’s impending judgment. While we do not know the exact nature of this prophecy, it serves as a reminder of God’s sovereignty over the heavens.

Discerning the Times

While we cannot always predict the full meaning of celestial events, Jesus commands us to watch:

"Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming." (Matthew 24:42)

Whether the upcoming parade of planets, blood moon, or potential nova explosion is a sign of coming prophetic fulfillment or simply a reminder of God's grandeur, one truth remains—God speaks through His creation.

As we look up at the heavens on February 28, may we not only admire their beauty but also seek the Lord with renewed faith and expectation.

Government Schools Are Actively Protecting Thousands of Sexual Groomers

Government schools across Texas are protecting child rapists and abusers, even allowing them to be legally shifted around to other schools to abuse more children, according to official documents and data compiled by researchers. Thousands of alleged perpetrators are involved in the Lone Star State scandal as public revulsion with “grooming” in public schools grows across the nation.

The horrific details first emerged when a whistleblower in the state education agency sent the Open Records Project a list of over 10,000 teachers accused of various crimes. The list included over 2,300 accused of raping and sexually abusing children. A small percentage of those were placed on a “do not hire” list, but over 90 percent were considered eligible to return to the classroom by the state’s teacher certification agency.

Critics and researchers investigating the scandal refer to this phenomenon as “pass the trash,” Open Records spokesman Russell Fish told The Newman Report. “We call the statewide situation a ‘Weinstein, Epstein, Diddy’,” said Fish, who has been speaking out about this for years across Texas. “Lots of people knew, but knew to keep their mouths shut…. This is basically a ‘get-out-of-jail-free’ system for teachers.”

Perhaps even more unbelievably, this all appears to be legal under Texas law. There is an obscure, decades-old statute that allows schools not to report child rapists and other criminals to law enforcement. Under Texas Family Code 261.103a(2), education officials have the option to report child-raping teachers to the State Board for Education Certification instead of police.

That is because of the way the statute is written. Rather than requiring education authorities to report criminals working for school districts — including child rapists — to both law enforcement and the certification agency, the code uses the word or. In practice, that has resulted in districts refusing to report the accused to law enforcement, merely notifying the state’s teacher certification agency.

Fish described this all as a “parallel criminal justice system created for teachers, enabling essentially penalty-free felonies.” The two main teachers’ unions in the state, along with their Democrat allies in the legislature, have been supportive of the parallel system and were reportedly responsible for getting it enshrined in law decades ago without much public discussion.

In an effort to help parents when authorities will not, the Open Records Project created a search engine so parents can check their own school districts to see how many accused pedophiles are working for it. Dallas Independent School District (ISD), for example, had a stunning 115 accused child rapists working for it, according to the most recent data available.

Critics warned of dire consequences for children. “Enablers and the act of enabling cause significant harm that has two primary consequences: perpetrators continue perpetrating, and victims fail to receive protection from those best positioned to protect them,” explained University of Utah law professor Amos Guiora with the Bystander Initiative, which focuses on the role of bystanders and enablers of sexual assaults.

This crisis must be urgently dealt with by lawmakers, he added. “This is a vicious cycle with no path to resolution absent legislative action,” continued Guiora in an emailed statement sent to The Newman Report. “Doing so would more effectively protect the vulnerable by minimizing the protection enablers provide to perpetrators.”

Recent efforts to pass legislation punishing misbehaving teachers were shot down thanks to behind-the-scenes efforts of teachers’ union bosses and lobbyists. But now, a growing coalition of parents, activists, and lawmakers have had enough. In fact, the attorney general’s office is looking into the matter, according to people familiar with the matter.

Sources in Texas who work in the legislature and in law enforcement told The Newman Report that this situation was unacceptable, and that it was time to fix it. As such, lawmakers are considering multiple pieces of legislation that would mandate reporting to law enforcement, in addition to the state teacher certification agency. One simple bill would simply change the “or” to “and,” thereby requiring reporting to police.

The scandal in Texas comes amid national outrage surrounding the “grooming” taking place in government schools. From schoolbooks for children glorifying monstrous perversion to “comprehensive sex education” seeking to normalize every conceivable sex act, government schools have been sexualizing children in increasingly extreme ways for years. Critics note that these are similar to tactics used by pedophiles to groom victims.

As The Newman Report documented last summer, the epidemic of child sex abuse in government schools has been a problem for decades. In fact, estimates based on government data suggest many millions of children have been sexually abused and exploited by school faculty. The numbers make sex abuse scandals involving the Roman Catholic Church seem minor by comparison.

In 2004, the U.S. Department of Education released the most comprehensive review of the data on sex crimes by educators against children. The “Shakeshaft Report,” authored by Carol Shakeshaft based on a survey of existing research, found that about one in ten children were victims of sexual misconduct by government school staff. Over a third of the victims were below high-school age.

More recent estimates suggest the numbers are even higher, though the department has stopped tracking the numbers—probably because it fears Americans would revolt if they knew how bad the problem was. If those conclusions from the 2004 report were correct, that means tens of millions of American children have been sexually abused, raped, molested, or attacked by government-school employees in recent decades.

The Open Records Project, the group leading the effort to expose Texas’ scandalous teacher-protection system, was launched in 1997. The mission was to improve government by making public documents available for free online. The organization has exposed fraud, abuse, and more in its many years of operations, and has scored big wins. But this effort to stop the abuse of children may be among its most important projects to date.

The fact that government schools even in conservative states are deliberately protecting and enabling child rapists should show parents clearly that these institutions are not safe. Obviously, reforms are needed — immediately. But unfortunately, this scandal is merely a symptom of a much deeper rot that permeates the system from top to bottom. Small-scale reforms are not enough. It is time for drastic, systemic change.

Whenever you are traveling I-81 near Natural Bridge, Va., there is this great slice of Americana called the Pink Cadillac Diner. It's the first thing you see coming off the exit is a pink 1956 Cadillac Fleetwood sitting under the sign for the Pink Cadillac Diner and the Budget Inn.

At first, my confidence in the Pink Cadillac Diner wasn’t real high as we pulled into the uneven gravel parking lot. While I was locking up the RV, Chris and Service Dog Charlie went in to check it out. Chris peeked out and gave the thumbs up, so I went on in. The hostess, dressed in a T shirt and jeans, questioned about letting Charlie in—"he’s a “service” dog, you know. OK, no problem.” And then our 1950s adventure began.

Stepping into the Pink Cadillac was like entering a time tunnel and arriving back in the 1950s. Vinyl green and white tiles in one area, black and white in another, and there was a separate room where people could buy old time ice cream by the scoop. We were seated at a classic 1950’s style chrome table with a vinyl table cloth in matching chrome seats.

We were surrounded with artifacts from an era gone by. The walls are lined with posters and pictures of the past. Movie posters of the great stars of the silver screen decorate the walls above the black and white tile floors and old-fashioned diner-style vinyl booths. There were John Wayne movie posters and pictures of Elvis and other movie stars hanging on the walls.

A grand 1950s juke box that still played the songs was along another wall. A Texaco Fire Chief gas pump sat near our table, with that 23 cents a gallon price showing, I was longing for the days when I could trust my car to the man who wears the star! Chris got a chef’s salad and I had a spicey chiliburger with jalapeños and fries. Huge burger, cooked well. Great fries.

The food was wonderful. The service down home with a sense of family and belonging. Just looking at the Pink Cadillac from the outside, we would have not normally chosen to eat there. The very first time we dined there, we had been in stop and go traffic for over and hour because of a terrible accident. We were tired, grumpy and hungry.

But as is written in the Psalms, the Lord “satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness.” The Lord was certainly smiling on us when we found the Pink Cadillac that day. We were longing for some vittles. We were likely close to the definition of “hangry.” We were in no mood for nonsense. The Pink Cadillac satisfied our longing souls!

Down home service with down home people who dished out down home hospitality with down home diner food. Plus, it was only about a mile from the KOA where we had booked a campsite. Come to find out much later, the Pink Cadillac Diner is listed as one of the top 50 diners in America by Readers Digest.

Daily Devotion: Pure, Genuine, and Uncorrupted

In football, there are players who excel at their position on offense and players who excel at their position on defense. And then there are the exceedingly rare athletes who excel on both sides of the ball. They’re called two-way players. They have the skills to contribute both offensively and defensively.

In James 1:27, James calls for Christians to be “two-way players” in putting our faith into action. On the offensive side, he calls us to involve ourselves in the lives of people in need. On the defensive side, he warns us to guard against being corrupted by the world.

Unlike the athletic marvels in football, you don’t need to be extremely gifted to excel in both areas as a believer. You just need to align your priorities with God and follow the game plan in His Word.

In this case, the game plan begins with choosing a side. Here’s a hint: Always team up with people in need, those who fall through the cracks of our society. God loves underdogs—and the people who side with them. Proverbs 19:17 says, “If you help the poor, you are lending to the Lord—and he will repay you!” (NLT). And Jesus Himself, quoting Isaiah 61:1–2, said, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the Lord’s favor has come” (Luke 4:18–19 NLT).

Your first instinct may be to pray for the poor and needy in your community. And that’s an instinct you should certainly follow. But if you do, and you stay alert to the prompting of the Holy Spirit, you’ll probably discover that you’re the answer to your own prayer. Or at least part of the answer. There’s a very good chance that He’ll call you to get actively involved in the lives of the people you pray for.

What that might look like is hard to say. What matters is that you can make a difference. You can bring hope to people who desperately need it. You can use your skills and resources to give them assistance. You can connect them to your community. You can let them know that you care in tangible ways. You can show them what Jesus’ love looks like.

But as you concern yourself with other people’s well-being, don’t neglect your own. Especially your spiritual well-being. The world’s influence is a constant threat. What makes it so dangerous is that often you don’t even know you’re being influenced or corrupted.

You need accountability partners—people who can recognize signs of corruption, or even just worldly influence, in you. People who aren’t afraid to lovingly challenge you when necessary. The ideal accountability partner is a Christian spouse or loved one, someone who knows you well and has a deep concern and a vested interest in your spiritual well-being.
