Why Combining the Rapture and the Second Coming Is Biblically Impossible

Do you realize that as New Testament saints, we will take part in the most spectacular event that the world will ever see? Nothing in the history or future of our planet is even remotely comparable to the astonishing sight of Jesus’ future return to the world in great glory and power.

Revelation 19 begins with thunderous praise for our Savior followed by our celebration with Him at the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. Then, “arrayed in fine linen, white and pure,” we will follow Jesus back to earth riding on white horses (Revelation 19:11-16) and reign with Him during His thousand-year rule over the nations (Revelation 20:1-10).

John’s vision of things to come in Revelation 20 brings to life what the Apostle Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 15:24-28: “Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him. And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.“

According to the above verses, Jesus must govern the affairs of humanity at a time when sin and death exist so that He might subject “all things” to Himself. It’s only after Jesus’ reign over the nations, which leads to the Great White Throne judgment recorded in Revelation 20:11-15, that death forever disappears and we have the conditions described in Revelation 21:4 when mourning, crying, and pain will no longer exist.

This scenario contradicts the teachings of our day that combine the Rapture with the Second Coming. These viewpoints not only negate the possibility of our thrilling return with Jesus at His return, but also contradict the words Paul penned in 1 Corinthians 15:24-28. Why do I make such a startling claim? Let me explain.

Placing the Rapture After a Literal Seven-Year Tribulation

Some Bible students combine the Rapture and Second Coming and yet claim to believe in a literal seven-year tribulation and thousand-year reign of Jesus. However, this teaching not only falls far short of adequately fulfilling the words of 1 Corinthians 15:24-28, but also negates significant elements of Jesus’ millennial reign, which they claim to believe.

First, combining the two events eliminates the possibility of sin during Jesus’ reign. How can the rebellion recorded in Revelation 20:7-10 happen if everyone enters the Millennium with incorruptible bodies incapable of sinning? Who would refuse to participate in the Feasts of Booths if such disobedience was impossible during this time (Zechariah 14:16-19)?

Second, placing the Rapture after the Tribulation negates the separation of Israel and the Church, a key component of modern-day Premillennialism (the belief in a literal thousand-year reign of Jesus). Many Old Testament passages promise a visible restored kingdom to the Jewish people. However, combining the Rapture and Second Coming makes Israel a part of the raptured church at the time of Jesus’ return rather than the separate entity that God’s Word teaches.

Third, what would be the purpose of Millennium if the words of the words of 1 Corinthians 15:24-28 reach fulfillment before Jesus returns? This passage necessitates that Jesus rule at a time when sin and death are possible, which can’t happen if one combines the Rapture and Second Coming because everyone would enter the kingdom with immortal bodies incapable of sinning. This viewpoint forces the fulfillment of these verses back to the church era, which is the position of those who deny that Jesus will reign for a thousand years.

The Church’s return to earth with Jesus is a necessity because combing the Second Coming with the Rapture doesn’t allow for sin and death in the Millennium nor does it fit with the restoration of a kingdom for Israel since the Jewish people would meet Jesus in the air along with all the other members of the New Testament Church.

Combining the Rapture with an End-of-the-Age Return of Jesus

Today’s most popular “post-Tribulation” teaching makes the Rapture and Second Coming a combined end-of-the-age event when Jesus returns to inaugurate the eternal state. Despite denying a literal futuristic tribulation and thousand-year reign of Jesus, many in this camp refer to themselves as “post-Tribulationists” while others completely dismiss the possibility of a Rapture.

This so-called “post-Tribulation” teaching is unbiblical because it rests upon imposing an end-times scenario upon the authors of Bible prophecy rather than allowing the words they penned under the guidance of the Holy Spirit to speak for themselves (2 Peter 1:19-21). It’s based on human insight rather than the wisdom that flows from the words on the pages of our Bibles.

Since they deny the Lord’s millennial rule, they must make the church age the time when He puts all things in subjection to Himself and forever destroys death (1 Corinthians 15:24-28). Do we see this happening in our day? No, the world is rapidly trending in precisely the opposite direction. Jesus is most certainly not bringing “all things in subjection under him” in our world during the current age.

Proponents of this teaching tell us that John abruptly switched from writing an allegory (Revelation 6:1 to 20:10) to providing an eyewitness account of future events (Revelation 20:11-22:5). They overlook the fact that the apostle wrote everything in Revelation chapters 19-22 as an eyewitness of future events (see also 22:8). The apostle goes out of his way to emphasize he’s writing as an eyewitness with the phase “then I saw” or “and I saw” as in the KJV (Revelation 19:11, 19; 20:1, 4, 11; 21:1, 2, 22).

It’s Biblically Impossible

There’s another factor that eliminates the combing the Rapture and Second Coming: It’s biblically impossible. What follows is a brief summary of why, based on the words of Scripture, we cannot combine these two events:

1. The timing of the Resurrection of the dead. When Jesus appears, He first raises all the “dead in Christ” (1 Thessalonians 4:16); it’s the first thing He does. At His return to the earth, He doesn’t resurrect the dead Tribulation saints until after a series of events (Revelation 19:17-20:4).

2. The participants of the Resurrection of the dead. At the time of the Rapture, Jesus raises all the “dead in Christ” to new life (1 Thessalonians 4:16). After Jesus returns to the earth, defeats the armies arrayed against Him, and sets up thrones, He raises just the Tribulation saints (Revelation 19:17-20:4). If they are the same event, why do we read that Jesus raises all the dead in Christ as in one, but only a subset of them in the other? The participants in the resurrection of the dead also make it impossible to combine the two events into one.

3. The meeting place. When Jesus comes for His Church, we will meet Him in the air (1 Thessalonians 4:17). After He returns to the earth, He sends out His angels to gather the “elect” (Matthew 24:31). If all the saints are already with Jesus as in the combined Rapture and Second Coming scenario, why is it necessary for Jesus to send out His angels to gather the elect to Himself after He arrives on the earth? Are they not already with Him?

4. The destination of believers. In all the accounts of the Second Coming, believers stay on the earth and meet the Savior after He arrives and gathers them to Himself (Matthew 24:31). When the Rapture happens, we all go to Heaven, to the place that Jesus is preparing for us (John 14:2-3. Colossians 3:4).

5. Sin and rebellion during the Millennium. As already mentioned, if all New Testament saints receive incorruptible and sinless bodies at the time of the Second Coming, then sin and death cannot exist during the Millennium. All those who combine the Rapture and Second overlook the many passages that tell us Jesus will reign at a time when sin is possible on the earth.

So What?

This is not a “so what?” exercise in dry theology; separating the Rapture and Second Coming confirms that our participation in the most spectacular event that the world will ever see (Revelation 19:11-16).

Already clothed “with fine linen, bright and pure,” at the Marriage Supper of the Lamb, we will remain arrayed in such away as we ride with our Savior back to planet earth (Revelation 19:8,14). The Greek word for “bright” in 19:14 is lampros, from which we get our word “lamp.”

It will quite literally be our time to shine. Imagine the thrill we will feel as we follow our Lord back to the world.

What does all this have to do with our “blessed hope” (Titus 2:11-14)? It confirms that the Rapture must happen long before the end of the Tribulation for people to come to saving faith in Jesus during this time. Although most will perish during this time (Revelation 7:9-17), many will survive and populate the beginning of the Millennium in natural bodies. This must happen in order for sin and death to exist during Jesus’ reign.

The pre-Tribulation Rapture also preserves the nature of Daniel’s seventieth week as a time when God focuses on bringing Israel to repentance. Both “post-Tribulation” viewpoints confuse the separation of Israel and the Church as see in Daniel 9:24-27.

I’m very much looking forward to meeting Jesus in the air and attentively watch for His appearing. However, I also long for the time when mounted on a white horse, I will return with my Savior to the earth. There will be something uniquely satisfying in watching the once despised and rejected Jesus complete His destruction of Satan’s kingdom, set up His rule over the nations that once despised and rejected Him, and as King, receive the great glory He so very much deserves.

Yes, it will be a time for us to shine, but only because of the Lord’s grace and mercy by which He will allow us to share in His glorious moment.

The Greatest Threat

Former Pres. Biden often said global warming (climate change) is the greatest threat facing America.

Pres. Trump said it is not climate change; it is nuclear weapons.

Recently, some have said it is Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Over the years, others have said it is bio-engineered pandemics, an alien invasion, a giant asteroid impact, biological overpopulation, food shortages, etc.

As a student of Bible prophecy, I believe these things are contributors, but the rejection of God the Father and His only begotten Son Jesus should be at the top of the list.

Concerning the latter times, the Apostle Paul said some shall depart from the faith (I Tim. 4:1), but they will have a form of godliness (II Tim. 3:5).

The expressed faith of some will be nothing more than lip service.

The Apostle Peter said scoffers will ridicule the Second Coming and make themselves willingly ignorant of the Word of God (II Pet. 3:3-5).

Their willing ignorance reminds me of polls that I have seen.

Many polls have shown that the vast majority of families have a Bible in their home, but they rarely, if ever, read or study it.

Jesus told the church at Laodicea, “Because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold or hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth” (Rev. 3:16).

The Laodiceans claimed to believe in God, but it was a half-hearted belief.

They attended church, but they were worldly minded, and God will not accept that.

None of us are perfect, but all of us need to make our salvation sure, and we don’t need to put it off.

The signs appear to indicate that the Rapture and Second Coming are close, and that will be a time of climate change, nuclear war, pestilences, famine, disasters, and hardship unlike anything the world has ever experienced.

Jesus said except those days be shortened, no flesh shall be saved (Matt. 24:22).

This is why I believe the rejection of God the Father and His only begotten Son Jesus is the greatest threat to America and the world.

Here are other recent events that appear to indicate that the end of the age is shaping up:

One, a George Barna survey (The Cultural Research Center at Arizona Christian University) of 2,100 U.S. adults in Jan. 2025 found that 60% of Americans do not believe that God exists or that He affects lives.

It also found that about 40% of Americans who say they are Christians said the same thing.

Barna added,

It seems obvious that political, economic, legal, or institutional improvements are not what America needs most desperately today.

Those cultural arenas merely provide prescriptions that address the symptoms but not the disease.

America has many needs, but Barna concluded that nothing short of sweeping national repentance and spiritual renewal can save America from itself.

Try as hard as they can, but no one can Make America Great Again without God.

Two, concerning Iran’s effort to develop nuclear weapons: on Mar. 17, 2025, Robert Gottselig (Director of Friends of Israel Gospel Ministry Canada) said:

Iran is the main reason for what’s happened in Gaza, Lebanon, and throughout the Middle East.

Tehran (Iran) is the number one state sponsor of terror, which issues an ongoing call for the death of America and the death of Israel.

Iran is not only putting itself on a collision course with Israel and the United States, they’re putting themselves on a collision course with the God of this universe: the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

The only question remaining is: when?

Trump said something’s going to happen very soon – very, very soon.

(Update: On Mar. 19, 2025, Axios reported that Pres. Trump sent a letter to the Ayatollah Khamenei urging him to resume negotiations over Iran’s effort to build nuclear weapons. According to Axios, Trump gave Iran two months to reach an agreement. U.S. Sec. Rubio said Trump wants to settle this issue without war, but if Iran refuses to settle it, Trump will act to prevent Iran from getting nuclear weapons.)

(Update: On Mar. 20, 2025, it was reported that the U.S. and Israel have scheduled talks in Washington next week to discuss Iran’s nuclear weapons program.)

(Update: On Mar. 22, 2025, Iran’s Ayatollah Khamenei said U.S. threats will get the U.S. nowhere.)

Three, concerning wars and rumors of wars: on Mar. 20, 2025, the Houthis in Yemen fired missiles at Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

Israel responded by striking a port city in Yemen.

Pres. Trump urged Israel to cease the attacks on the Houthis and let the U.S. deal with them.

Trump had already warned the Houthis to stop the attacks, and they didn’t.

Trump said U.S. jets on aircraft carriers can be more effective against the Houthis than Israeli jets that have to travel a great distance with a smaller payload.

Trump has warned the Houthis that he will annihilate them if they don’t stop.

Four, following a Hamas threat to kill the hostages if Israel resumed the war, on Mar. 18, 2025, Israeli Prime Min. Netanyahu resumed the war and notified Hamas that Israel will annex 5% of the Gaza Strip for every hostage that is harmed (10% if two hostages are harmed, 15% if three hostages are harmed, etc.).

Israel believes Hamas is desperate to keep control of the Gaza Strip, and threatening to seize part of it might save their lives.

Five, concerning world government: on Mar. 21, 2025, it was reported that 60 nations recently signed an agreement to control the use and development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) at a global summit in Paris, France, but the U.S. and UK refused to sign it because they are concerned that it will lead to global governance (world government) and other problems.

Some of the concerns are:

It is vague on national sovereignty and doesn’t place enough limits on global governance.

Too much regulation could hinder the development of new technology.

It could be used to increase the tracking of people.

(My opinion: An agreement signed by 60 nations that advances world government and increases the tracking of people is a clear indication that the world is approaching the Tribulation Period. The Rapture would speed this up, and it advances the globalist desire to establish a world government by 2030 or sooner, if possible.)

(My opinion: Globalists haven’t abandoned their goal to establish a world government by 2030 or sooner, if possible. Despite the landslide election of Trump, the globalists are still trying to obstruct his Make America Great Again policies. A staggering number of lawsuits have been filed in liberal courts to slow up or stop the MAGA agenda.)

Six, concerning Trump’s desire to evacuate Gaza Strip: on Mar. 24, 2025, it was reported that Trump has made a final offer to el-Sisi of Egypt:

Take 500,000-700,000 Gazans and the U.S. will increase its approximately 1.5 billion dollars of aid to Egypt, or reject the offer and the U.S. will cut off all aid to Egypt.

(More: on Mar. 24, 2025, it was reported that about 35,000 Gazans have left since Oct. 7, 2023, and 200-300 apply to leave every week. At this rate, it would take a long time for 2 million to leave, but the U.S. and Israel are working on it.)

Seven, concerning the Gaza Strip: on Mar. 25, 2025, it was reported that Israel is considering a new plan:

To fully reoccupy the Gaza Strip.

To decisively destroy Hamas.

To take full authority over the distribution of humanitarian aid.

If Israel decides to do it, they believe Pres. Trump will support them.

(My opinion: As I understand it, the plan is for Israel to take a slow approach to implementing this plan: start out slow and gradually ramp up the pressure.)

Eight, concerning the Gaza Strip: on Mar. 25, 2025, hundreds of Palestinians protested and demanded an end to the ongoing war with Israel.

They urged Hamas to relinquish control of the Gaza Strip.

They chanted “Hamas out” and carried banners reading “Stop the war” and “We want to live in peace.”

Nine, concerning world government: on Mar. 25, 2025, Rumble reported that the World Economic Forum (WEF) has obtained the signature of 14 nations on a treaty to ban natural conception in 2030.

According to the report, the WEF believes “humanity will be better equipped to deal with the challenges of the future if parenthood is strictly controlled, and unborn children undergo gene editing to ensure they are free of diseases and disabilities, including psychological traits which the elite disapprove of.”

(My opinion: We are getting close to the Rapture when a powerful global group is seeking world approval to decide who can or cannot have children. Those that don’t toe the line will be in serious trouble. It is an ungodly rejection of God’s command to be fruitful and multiply, and a great threat to the world.).

Ten, concerning a normalization agreement between Israel and the Arabs: on Mar. 24, 2025, Pres. Trump said more Arab and Muslim countries will join the Abraham Accords and normalize relations with Israel in the near future.

We probably don’t know, but there is speculation that a normalization agreement with many Arab countries could later be the one that is confirmed – strengthened – by the Antichrist.)

FYI: God does not send anyone to Hell (all of us are born with a sin nature and destined to go to Hell because we sin), but God has provided a way (Jesus) for everyone to go to Heaven (and He is the only way to get there; John 14:6).

Finally, are you Rapture Ready?

If you want to be rapture ready and go to heaven, you must be born again (John 3:3). God loves you, and if you have not done so, sincerely admit that you are a sinner; believe that Jesus is the virgin-born, sinless Son of God who died for the sins of the world, was buried, and raised from the dead; ask Him to forgive your sins, cleanse you, come into your heart and be your Saviour; then tell someone that you have done this.

Most relevant of the political questions presently is: Why can’t the Democrat Party acknowledge that the majority of America’s voters–and by a large margin—have rejected their party’s governance?

That this is the most relevant question isn’t even considered by that party’s radical membership–the base that so obviously controls that party. As a matter of fact, that radical base, I think it’s reasonable to say by observing their antics, doesn’t have the individual or collective capability of figuring out their dilemma. –That of why America’s voting public has shown them the door as of last November’s presidential election.

Their irrational antics include screeching in resistance to and protest of anything Trump. They also include burning and/or defacing with swastikas Tesla vehicles they just weeks ago championed over polluting, gas-burning vehicles.

They scream against deporting illegal migrants who have raped and murdered throughout this country. They rant and rave over the new administration closing borders that formerly allowed such murderers, rapists, and child sex traffickers into our nation.

They support wholeheartedly the drive by Israel-Jew-hating jihadists who perpetrate genocide, determined to remove all such people from the “river to the sea.” They embrace every anti-God cause that degrades, debases, and debauches human beings and normality. They worship at the altar of Mother Earth with their climate-change insanity. They favor in every way possible the abuse of the most innocent, championing the insane changing of children’s gender through bodily mutilation and hormonal disrupters.

They have, as the radical base of that political party, contributed mightily to turning America’s subculture into a mirror image of ancient Sodom.

This fanatical base sees America not as a light on the hill for freedom and national sovereignty–an example for the world to emulate—but as a holdup to bringing all the world together as one, as John Lennon would have it. They embrace the globalist goals toward that end.

But the God of Heaven has, for His own reasons, stopped these anti-God of reprobate mind (Romans 1:28) sorts dead in their tracks. At least for the moment…

Psalm chapter 2 is in view, I believe, and it can’t be missed:

Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?

The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure. (Psalms 2:1–5)

God the Holy Spirit, resident within each believer in Christ, is restraining evil and wickedness during this time so near the end of the Church Age (Age of Grace; see 2 Thessalonians 2). And I believe we are witnessing, through Heaven’s action, God saying just how near we are to the moment He will have His Son, the Lord Jesus, call all believers into the clouds of Glory.

I believe God is—by plainly putting His Psalm 2 “derision” of anti-God forces on display—giving a heads-up on things to come in the very near future. These things include proof of the truth Paul the apostle was inspired to write:

And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. (Romans 1:28-32)

Now, understand that I in no way whatsoever believe the Democrat Party is the devil’s political party and the Republican Party is God’s. All political entities of this fallen world are sin-laden. Please know that this is all to say I believe God is displaying that Heaven is restraining against and has in derision the anti-God forces at this late prophetic hour through His dealing with this particular evil. I believe it’s evidence that He is on the very cusp of intervening into this Sodom-like world.

This leftist political entity that goes against all that is godly is in total derision. The fanatical adherents within its body are tearing apart the fabric of their political brand for all to see. That derision is from the very hand of God, in my view.

Again, I believe this is particularly important, because it could be a significant indicator of just how swiftly things are about to unfold from this point. Christ’s call to “Come up here!” could be very near indeed.

And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh. (Luke 21:28)

Man May Devise His Plans, But God Is Ultimately in Control

Throughout history, many have speculated about the signs of the end times. Two significant indicators are the rapid advancement of technology and the emergence of powerful leaders whose actions grow increasingly corrupt as we move closer to the final days. Scripture warns of this progression, culminating in the prophecy of Revelation 13:2, where Satan, referred to as the dragon, grants power and authority to the Antichrist, called the beast. As history unfolds, we see leaders taking more control, leading ultimately to a point of no return—at which time, the Lord will return in triumph over evil.

Leadership and God’s Command

In the Old Testament, Israel was instructed to have no earthly king, for the Lord Himself was to be their ruler. However, desiring to be like other nations, Israel pleaded for a king, and God granted their request with conditions. One such condition was that their king must come from among their own people and must write a personal copy of the Law, reading it daily to learn to fear the Lord (Deuteronomy 17:18-19). This mandate ensured that leaders would remain accountable to God’s Word.

When America was founded, its principles mirrored those of Israel. The Puritans integrated the Law of Moses into their legal framework, established Thanksgiving based on the Feast of Tabernacles, and named cities after biblical locations such as Salem, Canaan, and Hebron. Biblical names were also commonly given to children, reflecting deep spiritual roots.

However, in recent centuries, the nation has drifted from its foundation, resulting in division—an unmistakable sign of the times. This division was evident, for instance, in President Trump’s address to Congress, where some leaders stood in support while others sat in protest, showcasing the stark contrast in leadership.

The Shift in Educational Institutions

There was a time when Ivy League students were required to learn Hebrew, with Yale’s official seal containing Hebrew inscriptions from the high priest’s breastplate. Yale, founded in 1701 by ten ministers, was originally dedicated to training men to preach the Gospel. However, within 140 years, it had transitioned from a faith-based institution to housing secret societies such as Skull and Bones—also known as The Order, Order 322, and the Brotherhood of Death. This society has produced influential leaders, including President William Howard Taft, President George H.W. Bush, President George W. Bush, and former Secretary of State John Kerry.

Each spring, Skull and Bones admits 15 seniors who commit to secrecy; meeting in a windowless building ominously called “The Tomb.” This secrecy aligns with the biblical truth that evil thrives in darkness, while Jesus, the Light of the World, calls His followers to walk in truth (John 8:12; 1 John 1:5).

The Rise of Global Agendas

Powerful leaders pursuing darker agendas have laid the groundwork for initiatives such as the Great Reset, Agenda 2030, ESG scores, 15-minute cities, and the concept of Sustainable Development. These efforts trace back over a century.

In 1919, American engineer Howard Scott founded the Technical Alliance, an organization designed to track economic and social trends in North America, ultimately seeking to expose the inefficiencies of capitalism. When asked about public opinion, Scott infamously remarked, “What the public thinks does not matter; it makes not the slightest difference whether the public knows about it or not.” Once again, we see the theme of powerful men doing increasingly nefarious things.

Though the Technical Alliance dissolved in 1921, it gave rise to the Technocracy movement at Columbia University in 1932. This movement sought to replace politicians and business leaders with scientists and engineers who would oversee the economy—an early attempt at eliminating capitalism in favor of centralized control.

The Expansion of Global Control

The 1930s saw the decline of the Technocracy movement, which was overshadowed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal—a series of programs that vastly expanded the federal government’s power. This period established the President as the ultimate authority, a trend that persisted into the 1970s. By 1936, support for the New Deal was considered progressive, while opposition was labeled conservative—a division that still shapes modern political discourse.

During the early 1970s, David Rockefeller spearheaded the creation of the Trilateral Commission, a private organization composed of leaders from politics, business, media, and academia. This commission aims to foster global cooperation, particularly among the United States, Japan, Western Europe, and North America, with the ultimate goal of dissolving national borders and establishing a one-world system.

At the same time, the World Economic Forum (WEF) emerged in Geneva, branding itself as an organization committed to “improving the state of the world” through business and political collaboration. Notably, in 2016, the WEF openly declared its vision: “In 10 years, you will own nothing and be happy.” This blatant agenda aligns with longstanding globalist ambitions to control economies, food supplies, healthcare, and public movement—all under the guise of sustainability.

The Path Forward

There is nothing new about elite organizations seeking to dismantle national sovereignty in favor of global control. These movements—from the Technical Alliance to the Technocracy movement, from the Trilateral Commission to the WEF—have methodically advanced their vision for over a century. Today, these efforts manifest in policies such as ESG scores, 15-minute cities, and Agenda 2030.

The question remains: Where does this path lead? Man may devise his plans, but God is ultimately in control. As we witness powerful leaders exercising ever-greater authority and corruption, we must remember the biblical promise that Christ will return to overthrow the darkness. The signs of the times are undeniable, and as believers, we are called to remain vigilant, steadfast in faith, and prepared for the fulfillment of God’s divine plan.

Daily Jot: Of sacrifice and obedience

Jesus said in John 14:15, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” What are those commandments? In Matthew 22:37-39, Jesus told us: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” 1 Samuel 15:22 says “to obey is better than sacrifice.” Hosea 6:6 sums it up, “For I desire lovingkindness, not sacrifice, and the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.” Throughout the Bible, the concept of obedience is greater than sacrifice. Obedience is likened to your relationship with the LORD. This was established from the time of Moses and the Tabernacle.

At the end of Exodus, Moses assembles the Tabernacle on the very day one year later, that the Israelites had left Egypt, on the first day of the first month. The singular verbs imply that Moses does this himself: “Moses erected the Tabernacle, put its sockets in place, put up its planks, put in its crossbars and set up its posts. He spread the tent over the Tabernacle and put the covering of the tent above it, as ADONAI had ordered Moses (Exodus 40:18-19).” Moses put the testimony inside the ark, and set up the contents of the Tabernacle. He erected the courtyard around the altar and put up the screen at the entrance of the Tabernacle. This is important because it represents the pattern of God’s will toward his people and their relationship with him.

The rabbinic leader Nachmanides (13th century France), says that the Tabernacle, and later, the Temple in Jerusalem where an extension of the experience of the giving of the Torah on Mount Sinai. It is only fitting that Moses, giver of God’s word, constructed the Tabernacle. In the center of the Tabernacle was the Ark of the Testimony which held and received God’s word, emphasizing the preeminence of the Bible as our most intimate connection to the Lord. All of this can also be applied to the Temple in Jerusalem—which is geographically in the center of the land of Israel, with the tribes surrounding it all around. Like our bodies as the Lord’s temple, we pray, opening our hearts and minds to the most sure way for God to dwell in our midst, and that is through the study and practice of His word.

The Hebrew word for sacrifice is korban, meaning “to draw near.” As important as that is, it is not our primary purpose as servants of God. The sacrifices were positioned outside the Tabernacle, not in the Holy of Holies, inferring that the purpose for prayer and worship is to draw us closer to God. Sacrifices are a means to an end, when we worship and pray to God, we draw near to Him, but it is the study of His word that gives us our mission, represented by the Ark of the Covenant with the word of God at its center. Understanding God’s word helps to understand His will, which puts us in the most intimate place of blending our thoughts with God’s. His will becomes our will and we then become His agents carrying out His will to the world. The Lord IS our center, and all we do revolves around Him and His son, the Word of God!

First Kings 18 tells the story of the prophet Elijah’s challenge to the false prophets of Baal. Elijah would build one altar and place a sacrifice on it. The prophets of Baal would build another altar and place a sacrifice on it. The deity who sent fire to consume his sacrifice would be declared the God of Israel.

The prophets of Baal went first—and failed. They couldn’t get their god to send fire, primarily due to the fact that their god didn’t exist. But here’s an interesting detail that reveals something important about the real God. When Elijah’s turn came, he instructed his servants to pour twelve large jars of water over his sacrifice and altar.

Every jug of water they poured made it less and less likely that anything but a miracle—the work of God Himself—would fulfill the requirements of the contest. God wanted everyone to know that when fire consumed everything on and around Elijah’s altar, it was because of Him.

The same principle can be seen in the Old Testament prophecies about Jesus. Each one is like one of Elijah’s jars of water. It makes it less and less likely that anything but a miracle could fulfill them all. God wanted everyone to know that when the Messiah came and fulfilled the Old Testament prophecies, it was because of Him.

And that puts the ball in our court. When we study Scripture and see Jesus’ miraculous fulfillment of prophecies made hundreds of years before His birth, we’re faced with a decision. Jesus proved Himself to be the Messiah, the Savior. We can’t treat that like a historical curiosity. We have to make it personal. We have to let it impact our lives. We have to answer deep within our soul the question Jesus asked Peter in Matthew 16: “Who do you say I am?” (NLT).

Jesus wants us to trust in Him for salvation. He said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me” (John 14:6 NLT).

Jesus wants us to be like Him. The apostle Paul wrote, “For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters” (Romans 8:29 NLT).

Jesus wants us to put Him first in our lives. He said, “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need” (Matthew 6:33 NLT).

Jesus wants us to tell others about Him. Psalm 96:2–3 says, “Sing to the Lord; praise his name. Each day proclaim the good news that he saves. Publish his glorious deeds among the nations. Tell everyone about the amazing things he does” (NLT).

If Jesus is who the Bible claims He is, there’s no risk in any of those pursuits. And Jesus certainly proved that He is who the Bible claims He is.

Maybe you’re afraid to stand up for Jesus Christ. You’re afraid that it could hurt your career or a relationship or something else. But there comes a moment when you have to stand for what you know is true. You may be criticized and might even lose something important to you. But whatever you lose, God will make it up to you. He will bless you for standing for what is right.
