We’ve looked many times at Israel’s destiny and what things will look like for that prophetic nation as the time of Christ’s return nears. One primary prophecy in this regard is from Zechariah, as again, we have looked at many times.

The burden of the word of the LORD for Israel, saith the LORD, which stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him. Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it. (Zechariah 12: 1-3)

My purpose here, as usual, is to focus on how near we must be to that promise found in the great unveiling of the glory of the King of all kings when He breaks through the dark, tumultuous clouds of Tribulation at the time of Armageddon (read Revelation 19:11).

God has promised His chosen people of His chosen nation Israel, that, even prior to Armageddon, He will intervene at the time all the world tries to force Israel from the midst of nations. He tells through the prophet Zechariah that all nations will eventually come against Israel.

All the nations of the world are represented to one extent or the other by the United Nations (UN). Can we see any anti-Israel bias in this organization at present?

We consider the following news item excerpt to find an answer.

18 September 2024 Peace and Security

The United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday voted overwhelmingly to adopt a resolution that demands that Israel “brings to an end without delay its unlawful presence” in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

With a recorded vote of 124 nations in favor, 14 against, and 43 abstentions, the resolution calls for Israel to comply with international law and withdraw its military forces, immediately cease all new settlement activity, evacuate all settlers from occupied land, and dismantle parts of the separation wall it constructed inside the occupied West Bank.

The General Assembly further demanded that Israel return land and other “immovable property”, as well as all assets seized since the occupation began in 1967, and all cultural property and assets taken from Palestinians and Palestinian institutions.

The resolution also demands Israel allow all Palestinians displaced during the occupation to return to their place of origin and make reparation for the damage caused by its occupation. All of this is in answer to one of the most heinous attacks in history–that perpetrated by Hamas against Israel on October 7, 2023.

Satan has seemingly entered the mind of much of the world—at least those represented in the UN who have joined in voting to come against the Jewish state. But the Lord, who watches over Israel and who neither slumbers nor sleeps, has guaranteed severe countermeasures against the satanically inspired anti-Semitic forces of history.

All who curse Israel will be cursed, and all who bless Israel will be blessed, as it is written (Genesis 12: 3). We can examine the nations and peoples of history that have cursed God’s chosen and find them in the dustbins of history, or not at all.

Germany’s downfall and history of domination by a satanically inspired Soviet regime is a modern proof of God’s promise to curse those who curse Israel. The Soviet Union itself dealt harshly with the Jews, and it, too, was cursed, and continues to be so to this day as once-again called Russia.

The United States has been mightily blessed, on the other hand, having been an instrumentality used by Israel’s God in bringing the Jews again into the land God promised them.

Satan is obviously working with all his being to bring anti-Semitism to America–particularly infecting a significant number of youthful minds within the Ivy League schools.

At the same time, the Lord has, I’m convinced, raised a champion for Israel in the US at this juncture so near the end of this Age of Grace.

Like his manners or not, President Donald J. Trump continues to prove his friendship with and his determination to protect Israel in its modern reincarnation. –This while the geopolitical and national political left joins those UN forces arrayed against Israel, blaming the Jews even for what happened that evil day of October 7, 2023.

It is flabbergasting that even Jews within American government and within the institutions of higher learning such as in Harvard, Columbia, and others join the mantra to remove all Jews from the river to the sea, as is the luciferic chant promoted by mainstream news media each and every day.

However, it is heartening that God obviously is meeting this Zechariah 12-level hatred with strength to safeguard Israel emanating for the most powerful nation-state on the planet. I strongly suspect that we are about to witness that power on display against Israel’s chief nation-state enemy and its attempt to produce nuclear weaponry which Iran would certainly use to, as vowed, destroy Israel. –This action against Iran being probable despite critics who lately declare that Trump seems to be noncommittal or even have a change of mind on destroying Iran’s nuclear weapons laboratories.

For this reason–the protective nation-partnership with Israel—and the fact that God’s family, the born-again, remain in this country, there is hope that the United States will survive this end-of-the-age, satanically spawned evil at least until Jesus steps out on the clouds of Glory and shouts “Come up here!”

Here is how to be part of that family of God that will hear Jesus when He calls in the Rapture.

That if you will confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and will believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10: 9-10)

The West Is Falling into Iran's Trap - Again

The Iranian regime is once again celebrating having diplomatic negotiations with the United States, this time under the Trump administration. Tehran's leaders have been framing these renewed talks as a positive that will enable them to retain their hold on power, and their nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programs to unleash at a later date.

Iranian officials, including leading figures in the foreign ministry, have voiced optimism about the direction of diplomacy, portraying the Trump team's willingness to engage as a step toward "mutual understanding." They would like the world to believe that diplomacy is working — when in reality, it is a trap. The excitement in Tehran is not a signal of peace or cooperation; it is a victory celebration. Whenever a terrorist regime that chants "Death to America" starts smiling about negotiations, it is not diplomacy — it is a win.

Iran's rulers are doubtless thrilled about "talks." What is the alternative? A full-scale military operation targeting and destroying their nuclear infrastructure? That is probably the only thing that has ever truly terrified the mullahs. It has been reported that President Donald Trump waved off an Israeli proposal to strike Iran's nuclear sites. His act was no doubt seen as a signal by Tehran that Washington would not act militarily.

The Iranian regime knows that without its nuclear program, it is nothing. It has no legitimacy and no protection from collapse. Its nuclear program is the regime's survival and expansion plan — its insurance policy. Without it, the Islamic Republic stands naked before its enemies, vulnerable to the same fate as other fallen despots.

Iran, like North Korea, sees nuclear weapons as the ultimate deterrent, the only thing keeping it rulers safe from both domestic overthrow and foreign intervention. The Iranian people have risen up time and time again, risking their lives in nationwide protests. Every uprising threatens the regime's weakened existence.

Iran recently lost its longtime loyal ally in Syria, the Assad regime. Syria's new government, headed by President Ahmed al-Sharaa, the former commander of Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (affiliated with al-Qaeda), rules under the protection and patronage of Turkey. Both Sharaa and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan are Sunni Muslims, hostile to Shia Iran.

Meanwhile, Iran's once-powerful proxy terrorist organizations, from Hezbollah in Lebanon to Hamas in Gaza — have been pummeled by Israeli strikes and internal fatigue.

What, then, is left for the Islamic Republic of Iran, a regime hated at home, isolated abroad, and stripped of regional muscle? One thing: nuclear weapons.

Iran's ruling mullahs, who have been here before, know this playbook well. The moment Trump was elected, Iran rushed to ask the European Union to help resume negotiations. Why the sudden interest in diplomacy? Pure fear. The mullahs suspected that Trump's second term might bring with it a more aggressive U.S. posture — possibly even military strikes. So, they did what they always do: stall, delay, and bait the West into negotiations. Talk just enough to ease the pressure, pretend just enough to appear cooperative, and wait out the clock. It is a scam they have been running for ages.

Economically, Iran is on the brink. Its currency is in free fall, inflation is out of control. China has been buying Iran's oil at enormously reduced prices. Iran's shattered economy is also a reason the regime welcomes talks. Talks offer hope of sanctions relief, currency stabilization, and international legitimacy — all while buying time to continue uranium enrichment behind closed doors. The West calls it a "deal." Iran calls it a jackpot.

Just imagine the conversations happening behind closed doors in Tehran. Iranian officials are likely saying something like:

"Let's see if we can get another JCPOA-style agreement, and protest that we need our centrifuges and low uranium enrichment for peaceful purposes, just as we did with President Barack Obama, and maybe even pull off another 'sunset clause' that will enable us to have an unlimited number of nuclear weapons in a short time. At least we can waste another two or three years pretending to negotiate. We can agree to pause enrichment a little bit, just enough to give them a diplomatic victory. Then we get billions in sanctions relief. We stabilize the currency, we ease the economy and domestic discontent, and regain legitimacy in the international community. Trump is so eager to get a discredited Nobel Peace Prize, but the Norwegians will never give it to him -- to them, the 'left' is a religion. Their heroes are Castro and Arafat. Meanwhile, to show Norway how peaceful he is, Trump will let us, Russia and China off the hook. Poor fellow, it will not work. He will just find himself the 'sucker' and the 'loser.' Meanwhile he will have thrown away what could have made him a historic great. While he is are celebrating his 'peacefulness' in keeping America out of a war that was not going to happen anyway, we can keep on moving toward our bomb, our missiles and the miniature nuclear warheads to put on them. Quietly. And if we get caught? So what. The Americans will negotiate again!"

That is why enrichment limits do not work. They are reversible. Under the JCPOA, Iran was enriching uranium at 3.67%. As soon as the deal collapsed, the regime commenced enriching to near weapons-grade levels. The idea that you can contain or "monitor" Iran with inspections and enrichment caps is a lovely, romantic fantasy. Sadly, this regime cannot be trusted. It cannot be allowed to keep any part of a nuclear infrastructure. The only acceptable path is total dismantlement or permanent destruction. No centrifuges, no uranium enrichment, no stockpiles, no underground facilities. Nothing.

Negotiations have plodded on for nearly two decades. What has the West gained? Nothing. What has Iran gained? Everything. Time. Money. Legitimacy. Uranium enrichment. Nuclear weapons and ballistic missile advancements. Each round of diplomacy gives the regime more room to maneuver, more time to develop its weapons, and more resources to fund terror proxies across the Middle East and Latin America. The result is not peace — it is proliferation.

Unless the West finally gets serious, Iran will cross the nuclear weapons threshold and the world will not only face an extremist, predatory regime armed with nuclear weapons, but the mother of all arms races. The US and the West are sleepwalking toward disaster. This is not just a threat to the Middle East. It is a threat to the whole free world.

Unfortunately, the only solution left is to completely dismantle Iran's nuclear program. No talks. No deals. No illusions. It is time to bring these endless negotiations to an end.

Experts Are Warning That There Will Be Significant Shortages in the United States by the End of Next Month

It would be difficult to overstate the seriousness of the crisis that we are facing. Just about every single industry in the United States is extremely dependent on imports from China, and now trade with China is essentially coming to a standstill. I wish that I was exaggerating, but I am not. According to the World Trade Organization, trade between the United States and China could decline by as much as 80 percent…

The World Trade Organization has warned that goods traded between the US and China could decrease by as much as 80%, backing US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s description of the current situation as essentially a trade embargo.

Unless something changes, this is going to be the biggest shock to our economy in decades.

At the moment, our stores are filled with products that are manufactured in factories in China.

But now many of those factories have become eerily quiet…

“I know several factories that have told half of their employees to go home for a few weeks and stopped most of their production,” said Cameron Johnson, Shanghai-based senior partner at consulting firm Tidalwave Solutions. He said factories making toys, sporting goods and low-cost dollar store-type goods are the most affected right now.

“While not large-scale yet, it is happening in the key [export] hubs of Yiwu and Dongguan and there is concern that it will grow,” Johnson said. “There is a hope that tariffs will be lowered so orders can resume, but in the meantime companies are furloughing employees and idling some production.”

We are also witnessing an unprecedented decline in cargo shipments from China to the United States.

Port of Los Angeles Executive Director Gene Seroka is telling us that “essentially all shipments out of China for major retailers and manufacturers have ceased”…

President Donald Trump’s trade war policies are expected to bring about a 35% decline in cargo arriving at the Port of Los Angeles by next week as “essentially all shipments out of China for major retailers and manufacturers have ceased,” according to Port of Los Angeles Executive Director Gene Seroka.

The good news is that major retailers still have Chinese-made goods that they previously purchased to sell to us.

But as they work through their existing inventory levels, pretty soon we are going to start seeing empty shelves.

In fact, the chief economic advisor to President Trump during his first term is openly warning that we could start experiencing significant shortages in late May…

American consumers are just weeks away from feeling the effects of President Donald Trump’s tariffs at the cash register, Gary Cohn, Trump’s chief economic advisor during his first term, said.

In a CBS interview, Cohn forecast that the consequences of newly imposed tariffs on China will start rippling through the US economy by late May.

“The cycle from a good being sold in China, loaded on a vessel, sailed across the ocean, unloaded in the United States, put in a factory, and distributed to a shelf is about eight weeks in the United States,” he told “Face the Nation” on Sunday.

Torsten Slok, the chief economist at Apollo Global Management, is also pointing to next month as the time when we will begin seeing “empty shelves in US stores” and “Covid-like shortages for consumers”…

The economic impact of the tariffs imposed by the Trump administration will soon become apparent to everyday Americans and lead to a recession this summer, according to Apollo Global Management.

Torsten Slok, chief economist at Apollo, laid out a timeline in a presentation for clients that showed when the impact of tariffs announced by President Donald Trump could hit the U.S. economy. Based on the transport time required for goods from China, U.S. consumers could start to notice trade-related shortages in their local stores next month, according to the presentation.

“The consequence will be empty shelves in US stores in a few weeks and Covid-like shortages for consumers and for firms using Chinese products as intermediate goods,” Slok wrote in a note to clients Friday.

In his note, Slok went on to warn that unless something changes it is likely that we will soon see substantial layoffs in the trucking and retail industries.

Approximately 80 percent of our toys are normally made in China, and so that is one industry that will be absolutely monkey-hammered if things do not change…

The tariffs are expected to hit small businesses especially hard. Toy retailers, for example, are already struggling with a 145% tariff on goods they normally order for the holiday season. Many are either scaling back orders or facing potential closures, Cohn said.

Last week, logistics experts and shipping industry insiders echoed similar concerns, telling Business Insider they expect major disruptions to the prices and availability of goods in the coming weeks.

Four even warned that unchecked supply-chain stress could trigger higher domestic unemployment, global market instability, and rising geopolitical tensions.

Whatever you think that you are going to need for the second half of this year, I would get it now while you still can.

The president of a company that supplies major retailers with holiday decorations is concerned that his business could be ruined if a trade deal is not worked out soon…

“The clock is absolutely ticking,” said Jim Gerson, president of The Gersons Companies, an 84-year-old supplier of holiday decorations and candles to major US retailers. The company, based in Olathe, Kansas, sources more than half its products from China and currently has about 250 containers waiting to be shipped.

“We have to get this worked out,” said Gerson, who’s part of the third generation from his family to run the company, which generates roughly $100 million in sales a year. “And hopefully very soon.”

He is right.

The clock is most certainly ticking, and more damage is being done with each passing day.

Unfortunately, it does not appear that a trade deal with China is anywhere on the horizon at this stage.

In fact, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is insisting that it is up to China to make the next move…

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Monday put the responsibility for reaching a trade agreement on China.

“I believe that it’s up to China to de-escalate, because they sell five times more to us than we sell to them, and so these 120%, 145% tariffs are unsustainable,” Bessent said during an interview on CNBC’s “Squawk Box.”

A lot of products that are made in China have already disappeared from Amazon.

So let me offer a piece of advice.

I would recommend making a list of products that you normally purchase and products that you think that you will need in the months ahead.

If any of those products are made in China, I would purchase them immediately.

I do not think that we are going to see a trade deal with China any time soon, and that means that we are about to move into unprecedented territory.

In a troubling display of political doublespeak, several Democratic lawmakers have revealed a deep inconsistency in how they treat issues of justice, crime, and immigration—especially when it involves foreign nationals with alleged ties to violent gangs. US Reps Robert Garcia (D-CA), Maxwell Frost (D-FL), Yassamin Ansari (D-AZ), and Maxine Dexter (D-OR) went to El Salvador. Their mission? Lobbying for the release of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran man deported under the Trump administration who was allegedly linked to MS-13 and accused of domestic abuse and human trafficking. These lawmakers argue they’re defending due process. It’s really a hypocritical defense of lawfare and abuse of the judicial system.

Their choice to personally intervene for an individual with such accusations—rather than highlighting broader reform—raises serious questions. They didn’t fly to El Salvador to defend due process for hundreds of others. They focused on this one man, while gang-related violence tied to illegal immigration continues to plague their own districts. Meanwhile, in New Mexico, Magistrate Judge Joel Cano resigned after ICE arrested a Venezuelan gang member—reportedly from the violent Tren de Aragua cartel—at Cano’s home. The man had previously been released from custody due to overcrowding. This is no small gang—it’s been compared to a Latin American version of the Mafia. Yet when these dangerous figures are walking free in American communities, elected officials often stay silent—unless there’s a political opportunity in sight.

Then there’s Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), who insists he’s not defending Abrego Garcia the person, but merely standing up for his right to due process. That would be fine—if the same standard were applied evenly across the board. But when American citizens face harsh punishments over technicalities or when victims of migrant crime in border states seek attention, the calls for due process and compassion from Democratic lawmakers are strangely absent. What emerges from these stories is a consistent pattern: Democratic officials showing deep concern for the rights of foreign nationals—sometimes with documented gang affiliations—while often downplaying the very real concerns of their own constituents.

The optics are clear. They believe there’s more political capital in standing against the Trump administration’s immigration policies than in standing up for victims of migrant crime in cities like Los Angeles, Portland, and Baltimore. They see a clear strategy of getting the courts to require an additional layer of due process for every criminal illegal alien—which would make it impossible to deport the illegals in this country. These elected officials are selectively championing “due process” based on politics rather than principle. Proverbs 10:9 says, “He who walks in integrity walks securely, but he who perverts his ways will be found out.” Let us be vigilant in calling out those who promote justice for those who prey on the just.

Daily Devotion: Paul (Also Known as Saul)

The story of Stephen’s stoning contains a curious footnote: “His accusers took off their coats and laid them at the feet of a young man named Saul” (Acts 7:58 NLT). That would be Saul of Tarsus. After participating in the stoning of Stephen, Saul gained notoriety as a persecutor of Christians.

Saul was proud of his Jewish heritage and zealous in his Jewish faith. When he saw the followers of Jesus of Nazareth, a dead revolutionary, challenging Jewish beliefs, he determined to put an end to their movement. Acts 8:3 says, “But Saul was going everywhere to destroy the church. He went from house to house, dragging out both men and women to throw them into prison” (NLT).

Acts 9:1 says, “Saul was uttering threats with every breath and was eager to kill the Lord’s followers” (NLT).

This was a man fueled by religious extremism. Saul found his identity in his Jewish religion. He was rigid in his beliefs and unlikely to change.

Until he encountered the risen Christ.

While Saul was on his way to Damascus to arrest Christians, Jesus appeared to him, as explained in the passage above. Saul’s life was never the same again.

Temporarily blinded after his encounter, Saul was led to the home of Ananias, a believer who knew of Saul’s reputation and was understandably suspicious of him. But the Lord revealed to Ananias that He had important plans for Saul.

Saul regained his sight, was filled by the Holy Spirit, and then baptized. As zealous as ever, he went straight to the local synagogue and proclaimed that Jesus was the Son of God. The Jewish people who had been his former allies were confounded by the power of his teaching.

As was the case with Ananias, the apostles and church leaders viewed Saul with skepticism. Eventually he won them over with the power of his testimony, his teaching, and his zeal to share the Good News.

Saul embarked on three major missionary journeys that took him to Gentile regions throughout the land. Perhaps to give himself more credibility in those places, he started using his Roman name, Paul.

He was imprisoned, stoned, and beaten for preaching the truth of Christ. But he never wavered. He considered it an honor to suffer for the Lord’s sake. He was beheaded in Rome around AD 66. But not before God had used him to change the world.

The life of Saul/Paul is a testimony to the power of Jesus’ resurrection. The risen Christ can transform any life. He offers forgiveness and healing. He gives us new purpose, new meaning, and new hope. Through the Holy Spirit, He guides us, comforts us, convicts us when we do wrong, and challenges us to maximize our God-given gifts.

Jesus lets us start again.
