Syrian Terror and Chaos: Is The Destruction Of Damascus Near On The Horizon?

It happened almost overnight. The world’s perception of Abu Mohammad al-Julani changed from that of a wanted terrorist to the respected president of Syria. A year ago, the United States had a ten-million-dollar bounty on his head; it regarded him as one of the most wanted terrorists in the world. Now it recognizes him as the president of a legitimate Syrian government.

The fawning of world governments over this desperado, who now wears a suit, is proving misguided, although few, if any, recognize their error. Julani is still the same murderous thug who led a lengthy and bloody revolt that ended late last year with him as the new leader of Syria.

According to a Reuters news report from June 30, 2025, Julani’s forces “massacred 1,500 Alawites,” which is an ethnic group that lives along the Mediterranean Coast of Syria. The Syrian government is also behind the recent mass killings of the Druze, another ethnic and religious group within its borders.

Julani’s attempt to massacre the Druze people led to recent Israeli attacks against his forces. Israel’s defense of this people group included the bombing of government buildings in Damascus. Amir Tsarfati reported on his telegram page that in an attempt to avoid the airstrikes by the IDF, the Syrian forces disguised themselves as Bedouins in an attempt to continue their murderous assault apart from the detection of the Israeli armed forces.

The Syrian government’s massacre of innocents has extended beyond Arab ethnic groups. As reported by Amir Tsarfati on Telegram, Syrian “Jihadists killed Pastor Khaled Mzher, shepherd of the (Good Shepherd Evangelical) church, along with all his family members, siblings, their children, his father, and his mother (20 bodies) in the Syrian city of As-Suwayda.”

The Prophecy of Damascus’ Destruction

Although the mainstream media ignores the horrific massacres ordered from Damascus, we know that God sees all the bloodshed as well as the great grief of those dealing with the murder of their loved ones.

Do the accounts of the killing of innocents in Syria point to the nearness of Isaiah’s prophecy concerning the destruction of Damascus?

Isaiah 17:1 KJV – “The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.”

The capital city of Syria has never suffered such a fate since the time Isaiah recorded these words about 2,700 years ago; it has remained a viable inhabited city ever since the days of the prophet. As the horrific bloodshed instigated by the Syrian government continues, is it possible that we are nearing the day when the Lord will reduce Damascus, the Syrian capital, to “a heap of ruins?” I think so.

The picture in Isaiah 17:1 of Damascus reduced to rubble reminds me of pictures from Gaza after Israeli bombs left large sections of its cities in total shambles. This has already happened to parts of Damascus as the result of Israeli bombing, but the city as a whole remains intact. At least for now.

The Bible doesn’t tell us how or when God will completely destroy the large and populous city of Damascus, making it totally uninhabitable. A nuclear blast could do this, but how would that happen?

Will It Happen Before the Gog/Magog Invasion?

Many Bible prophecy experts believe that God’s judgment will fall on Damascus before the Gog/Magog war (Ezekiel 38-39) since Ezekiel doesn’t list Syria as one of the invading nations. Syria’s absence is also conspicuous because, with its current leadership, it would surely join this all-out assault on Israel. One of the nation’s leaders recently stated that their future agenda is to “liberate Jerusalem.”

The primary path of the Gog/Magog invaders will be through Syria onto the mountains of Israel, which makes its exclusion from the list of nations in Ezekiel 38 all the more noteworthy and strongly suggests that Damascus’ destruction happens first.

Will It Happen Before the Rapture?

At first glance, Isaiah’s prophecy concerning Damascus seems rather obscure. It’s curious that of all the many prophecies concerning nations besides Israel recorded in the Old Testament prophets, this one catches our attention, and we realize that the city has remained viable ever since the prophet recorded the Lord’s promise of its total destruction.

Will we see the fulfillment of the prophecy concerning Damascus’ demise before the Rapture? It’s possible, and oh, what a sign pointing to the nearness of the Rapture that would be! If we are here to witness it, we will know that our remaining time on the earth is exceedingly short.

I believe it’s more likely that Jesus will take us home before the destruction of Damascus and the subsequent invasion of Israel described in Ezekiel 38. What we see today, however, provides us with considerable evidence that God’s patience with Syria may come to an end in the near future. Soon afterward, His wrath will fall on Damascus, the Gog/Magog invaders of Israel, and then to the rest of planet Earth during the Tribulation period.

It’s just like God, who loves to predict still future events from ancient times, to leave this prophecy concerning the destruction of Damascus as a gem for us to find. The prophecy explains Syria’s absence from the list of the Gog/Magog invading nations. And should the world blame Israel for the city’s demise, such a perception would certainly motivate them to attack Israel soon afterward.

Because the Rapture is a sign less event, we cannot say for sure whether or not it will happen before or after Damascus’ destruction. Regardless, what we see happening in Syria is yet another sign pointing to the nearness of the time when we will meet Jesus in the air.

Hamas Digs In After Manufactured Famine Puts Worldwide Pressure On Israel

Pictures of starving children are horrifying and motivate decent people to do anything to relieve their suffering. That sentiment is driving the current diplomatic offensive against Israel, in which much of Europe is demanding that the Jewish state end the war against Hamas on virtually any terms.

There is a growing consensus within the mainstream media and the foreign-policy establishment that what is going on in the Gaza Strip has become so grievous that the fighting must end immediately. With even some supporters of Israel saying that after nearly two years of inaccurate if not downright false claims of famine and "genocide" in the coastal enclave, there are now the first credible claims that hunger is spreading, the political and diplomatic situation is beginning to turn even more sharply in favor of Hamas.

Talks derailed by propaganda

Rather than this bringing the war that began with the Hamas-led Palestinian-Arab attacks on southern Israeli communities on Oct. 7, 2023, closer to a conclusion, it has, at least in the short term, made it even less likely. The breakdown of the talks for a ceasefire-hostage release deal between Israel and Hamas that has been pushed by the Trump administration is a direct result of the propaganda victory won by the terrorists.

Their strategy to create a famine in spite of the fact that food and other supplies were available to feed the hungry didn't just create suffering for their own people. It gave them leverage to continue the war they started on the morning of Oct. 7 to not only worsen the plight of Palestinians but also to bludgeon an exhausted and beleaguered Israel into submission.

We don't know whether that will mean a ceasefire deal that will be skewed even more in Hamas's favor and essentially allow them to remain in charge of much or all of the Strip. Nor can we be sure if it is a sign that Hamas intends to continue fighting in Gaza indefinitely, confident that the increased casualties and the pain of Palestinians caught in the crossfire of the conflict will only increase sympathy for their jihad to ultimately destroy the one Jewish state on the planet.

But we do know that those who have--either out of malice for Israel or ignorance of facts on the ground--aided Hamas's efforts to manufacture a famine or have spread misinformation about the crisis to blame the Jewish state for what the terrorists have done are as much to blame for this dismal situation as the terrorists. Those in the United Nations and international community, and those tasked with aiding humanitarian disasters and the so-called human-rights organizations, coupled with media outlets playing along with Hamas's strategy, aren't just wrong. They bear a great deal of the responsibility for any starvation in Gaza and the failure of the negotiations.

Hamas digs in

Just days earlier, few doubted that an agreement to end the fighting was within reach and would likely be sealed within the week. But those expectations were derailed by the same factor--agony in Gaza--that had seemed to fuel the urgency to conclude a ceasefire.

What happened was that the food crisis that Hamas manufactured through tactics designed to hijack and/or obstruct the delivery of supplies to those Gazans who needed them succeeded not merely in increasing sympathy for the Palestinian cause and criticism of Israel.

It also gave the terrorists a reason to dig in their heels.

On the brink of what most observers assumed was a successful negotiation, Hamas was encouraged by the way their propaganda victory had caused 25 countries and the European Union to demand an immediate end to the war. France, which has been increasingly hostile to Israel since Oct. 7, then declared its recognition of a Palestinian state, rewarding the terrorists, albeit with a meaningless gesture toward a sovereign nation that doesn't actually exist.

And with headlines screaming outrage about starvation in Gaza, Hamas has decided there's no reason to concede anything in the negotiations.

They are clearly determined not merely to hold onto at least some of the hostages who were kidnapped on Oct. 7, but to also insist on paying no price for starting a war by committing unspeakable atrocities against Israel and then waging it by sacrificing Palestinian civilians. If Hamas emerges from any agreement still in control of the Gaza Strip, they not only have reason to declare victory. They will be in a position to rebuild the military forces that Israel shattered in the fighting, as well as the terrorist tunnels that made the fighting so difficult. The end result will be that the independent Palestinian state in all but name that was created by the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza in 2005 will be reconstituted with Hamas in a position to keep its promise to repeat the horrors of Oct. 7 until Israel no longer exists.

A manufactured famine

It's important to understand what created the food shortage in Gaza.

Contrary to the misleading stories in the corporate media, it's not because Israel is preventing food from getting into Gaza or because of a mythical effort to perpetuate a genocide there.

The main cause of the problem is, as Amit Segal reported this week in The Free Press, the price of food rather than its unavailability. As Hebrew University economics professor Yannay Spitzer has documented, the price of flour--"the most essential consumer good"--has undergone an 80-fold increase since the start of the war.

The cause of that out-of-control inflation of prices was not, however, an Israeli effort to prevent flour from entering Gaza. As has been proven by the comments of Gazans and the numerous photos and videos of the availability of foodstuffs in the Strip, the problem has been that Hamas has been stealing the aid that comes into Gaza and then either hoarding it for their own cadres and/or selling it at exorbitant prices to Palestinian civilians.

U.N. agencies that are driven by their support for the Palestinian war on Israel have been claiming that Israel doesn't let convoys of aid trucks into Gaza. But the plain fact is that, as has repeatedly been the case since conflict began, more than 900 trucks packed with supplies intended for needy Palestinians have already entered Gaza and are in the hands of the United Nations. Yet their contents are not being distributed, something verified by the press. Israel has offered the world body five different routes for the distribution of the food, though none have been accepted or acted upon.

The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), the organization created by the United States and Israel to make up for the failure of U.N. aid agencies to do their job in Gaza, is also seeking to provide more food and to hand it over to the world body's agents. But again, the U.N. groups are doing nothing while working overtime to spread the blood libel that it is Israel that is causing Gazans to starve.

Hamas is also responsible for the problems that the GHF has encountered and the claims that Israel is slaughtering Palestinians who come to it for aid.

Again, as they have sought to do since the conflict began, Hamas terrorists have done their best to prevent anyone but themselves from being in charge of the distribution of products needed for the population's survival. Since the GHF began its efforts to get around the logjam created both by Hamas hijackings of convoys and the stalling of U.N. agencies, the terrorists have deliberately created situations in which the crowds attempting to access the aid have either been attacked or seeded with the Islamist group's operatives.

That has resulted in repeated instances in which Israeli troops guarding the distribution efforts have come under threat and responded by firing into the air. Inevitably, that means some casualties to the mobs rushing toward them, which have been augmented by Hamas fire. The numbers of those hurt or killed in these unfortunate incidents are then inflated out of all proportion to reality, as has been true of all casualty numbers produced by the Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry.

This has further damaged Israel's image abroad, adding more fuel to the fire of a post-Oct. 7 global surge in antisemitism rooted in fraudulent smears about "genocide." More than that, it has now led to something that up until now was largely untrue: a genuine shortage of food in Gaza.

This shortage is entirely the fault of Hamas.

The terrorist group's refusal to lay down their arms and give up the hostages has always been the only hindrance to the cessation of hostilities. Yet by pursuing a policy of obstructing the distribution of aid and stealing as much of it as they can, the Islamists have driven food prices inside Gaza up to ruinous levels.

And there is nothing that Israel can do about it except to redouble its efforts to destroy what's left of Hamas's forces, and thereby prevent them from continuing to harass and intimidate Palestinians, who don't wish to be dependent on the gunmen for food. As long as Hamas can continue to sabotage humanitarian efforts and U.N. groups that are implacably hostile to Israel and essentially in the pockets of Hamas--as they were on Oct. 7 and before that--are complicit in this Hamas plan, no humanitarian efforts or Israeli generosity to their foes can entirely prevent hunger from spreading there.

The price of giving in

The question then is whether the international pressure the crisis has generated--combined with the war weariness of Israelis and eagerness of the Trump administration for a deal that it can claim as a diplomatic victory for the president--will be enough to force Israel and the United States to return to the talks, and give Hamas everything it wants.

That might turn down the volume on the propaganda that is branding Israel a pariah state, as well as leading to increased incidents of antisemitism across the globe. It might also lead to the release of some, but almost certainly not all, of the Israeli hostages and some of the corpses of their victims that the terrorists are still holding for ransom.

It would also give the Israel Defense Forces a much-needed respite for an unspecified period. But that period of calm would only last as long as it takes for a rejuvenated and triumphant Hamas to be able--with the international aid that will pour into the Strip--to rebuild its armed forces enough to the point where it will return to a position where it will again be a deadly threat to the Jewish state. No one should doubt that this will happen, regardless of any pledges to the contrary or safeguards built into a ceasefire agreement. Or at least it will unless and until the United States is committed to supporting a resumption of Israel's war against Hamas as soon as that becomes obvious.

But no one should think a U.S.-Israel surrender to Hamas will end the suffering of Gazans, who will remain in thrall to a terrorist group that will not hesitate to continue sacrificing them in the name of a "resistance" that won't cease until the Jewish state is destroyed.

What is happening there ought to be listed along with human-made famines plotted by Communist tyrants Joseph Stalin and Mao Tse-Tung, which killed many millions of people in the history of self-inflicted catastrophes undertaken for political reasons. Yet this crime committed by Hamas is being blamed on Israel and the Jews because of lies spread by the media and buttressed by antisemitic tropes.

After 22 exhausting months of fighting Hamas, the impulse to give in to this propaganda war is understandable, if regrettable. The dilemma of those in Washington and Jerusalem, who must now consider whether or not they have the moral strength to resist the opprobrium that will be falsely slung at them while Hamas continues to starve its own people, is unenviable. But they should remember that the price of letting the terrorists get away not only with starting a war and committing unspeakable atrocities, but also for manufacturing a famine, will continue to be paid in the blood of countless Jews and Arabs if the terrorists achieve their objective.

It has been said that there is no cure for crazy. If that is actually true, we are in all sorts of trouble. When I was growing up, the crazy people were on the fringes of our society. Today, it is the normal people that have been pushed to the fringes of our society. If you think that I am exaggerating, just look around you. Much of the population is literally behaving like maniacs. We all laughed when “Idiocracy” was released in theaters in 2006 because it was so absurd, but in retrospect that film was essentially a warning about what would soon be coming. Over the past 20 years, our society has been turned totally upside down. The lunatics are running the asylum, and many of them are lashing out in wild and unpredictable ways.

If you think that I am being too harsh, please read the rest of this article. I truly wish that I was exaggerating, but I am not. The following are 10 examples that show that our society is going completely insane…

#1 Would you join a “scream club”?. In Chicago, a very large group of liberals meets even Sunday evening at 7 PM to scream their heads off…

Scream Club Chicago has found an unorthodox way to let off some steam and make life a little easier.

The group meets on the North Avenue Beach pier every Sunday at 7 p.m., where they breathe deeply and collectively scream into the open air over Lake Michigan.

The group was started by Manny Hernande, a breathwork coach who was looking for an outlet to deal with stress. He invited others to join him in the screaming ritual on social media. Now the weekly therapy session are growing in popularity.

#2 In America today, the violent lunatic walking next to you could snap at any moment. At a Walmart in Michigan, a man that was shopping in the grocery section suddenly pulled out a knife and started stabbing people…

“It was a guy with a knife — people were screaming and running in all directions,” said Tasha Nash, a Walmart employee. “I saw someone stabbed in the eye.”

Amber Paull, another shopper, described the assailant as a foreign man who “just lost it” and began randomly attacking people in the produce and grocery section. “An African American man pulled a hero move — he drew his pistol and tried to stop the attacker,” Paull said. “But then people started screaming, and the suspect managed to slip back into the crowd.”

#3 There are more than half a million victims of child abuse in the United States. A recent case in Florida was particularly horrifying…

Four adults were arrested after being accused of abusing nine children in their Florida home by caging them with plywood under a bunk bed and spraying them in the face with vinegar as a form of punishment, authorities said Friday.

Husband and wife Brian and Jill Griffeth, along with 21-year-old Dallin and 19-year-old Liberty Griffeth, were arrested and charged with aggravated child abuse, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement Friday.

The four adults are suspected of abusing five biological and four adopted children — ages 7 to 16 — at their home in Fort White, Florida, roughly 35 miles northwest of Gainesville, the sheriff’s office said.

#4 Some school districts are now paying kids to come to school because chronic absenteeism has become so pervasive…

Educators are trying to incentivize students to come to school, with some districts even paying students for their attendance.

Others have encouraged teachers to have attendance count towards grades or limit the number of assignments that can be completed online, The Boston Globe reports.

Twenty states reported that more than 30 percent of their students missed at least three weeks of school in 2022-23, according to latest figures from the DoE.

#5 Mad scientists feel like they have the right to “play God” without our permission. For example, not too long ago a group of mad scientists on the west coast attempted to conduct an unauthorized geoengineering experiment in San Francisco Bay which was intended to dim the sun…

The details outlined in funding requests, emails, texts and other records obtained by POLITICO’s E&E News raise new questions about a secretive billionaire-backed initiative that oversaw last year’s brief solar geoengineering experiment on the San Francisco Bay.

They also offer a rare glimpse into the vast scope of research aimed at finding ways to counter the Earth’s warming, work that has often occurred outside public view. Such research is drawing increased interest at a time when efforts to address the root cause of climate change — burning fossil fuels — are facing setbacks in the U.S. and Europe. But the notion of human tinkering with the weather and climate has drawn a political backlash and generated conspiracy theories, adding to the challenges of mounting even small-scale tests.

Last year’s experiment, led by the University of Washington and intended to run for months, lasted about 20 minutes before being shut down by Alameda city officials who objected that nobody had told them about it beforehand.

#6 It is being projected that Canada will euthanize 15 million of their own citizens by 2047, and the U.S. is heading down the exact same path…

In a recent video, Kelsi Sheren, a Canadian combat veteran, host of The Kelsi Sheren Perspective, and an outspoken opponent of Canada’s Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) policies, shared how Canada’s government-controlled healthcare system plans to euthanize an estimated 15 million Canadians between 2027 and 2047, a staggering figure justified under the pretext of cost savings.

While doctor-assisted suicide in the U.S. has not yet reached the alarming extremes observed in Canada, the “death with dignity” movement is actively attempting to change that. Pending Governor Hochul’s signature on New York’s recently passed bill, 11 states and Washington, D.C., will permit this abhorrent and immoral practice.

#7 Often some of the worst crimes are happening in some of the wealthiest neighborhoods. For instance, somehow a wealthy Chinese couple in Los Angeles was able to collect and abuse 21 children before authorities finally caught on to them…

A house in an upmarket Los Angeles city was raided by the FBI, leading authorities to rescue 21 small children, many of whom had allegedly been subject to abuse.

Guojun Xuan, 65, and Silvia Zhang, 38, were initially arrested in May under suspicion of felony child endangerment and neglect, after a 2-month-old baby in their care was brought to a local hospital with a traumatic brain injury.

Doctors realized the injuries had occurred around two days previously, sparking a police investigation.

#8 Major cities all over the nation are becoming rotting, decaying hellholes. Can you guess which large American city is being described in these paragraphs?…

Speaking at a public Board of Police Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, local man Frank Sereno said he was concerned about the levels of crime.

According to KMBC, he said: ‘Property crimes, stolen vehicles, teens running through the neighborhood, armed, shooting firearms’.

‘These are not innocent petty crimes. These are very violent individuals who are out to do harm to us. And we’re tired of it happening,’ he added.

It isn’t Los Angeles.

It isn’t San Francisco.

It isn’t New York City.

It isn’t Chicago.

The city being described in those paragraphs is actually Kansas City.

I am old enough to remember when Kansas City was still a very civilized place.

#9 The experts are now admitting that more than a quarter of our population is mentally ill. According to Johns Hopkins, approximately 26 percent of all Americans suffer from ” a diagnosable mental disorder in a given year”…

Mental health disorders account for several of the top causes of disability in established market economies, such as the U.S., worldwide, and include: major depression (also called clinical depression), manic depression (also called bipolar disorder), schizophrenia, and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
An estimated 26% of Americans ages 18 and older — about 1 in 4 adults — suffers from a diagnosable mental disorder in a given year.
Many people suffer from more than one mental disorder at a given time. In particular, depressive illnesses tend to co-occur with substance use and anxiety disorders.
Approximately 9.5% of American adults ages 18 and over, will suffer from a depressive illness (major depression, bipolar disorder, or dysthymia) each year.

#10 These days, many Americans are actually “romanticizing the apocalypse” simply because they want all of the madness to finally end…

If you could turn back the clock and have America go back to the way that it was in the 1950s and 1960s, would you do it?

Even though we would have to give up our electronic gadgets and a lot of our modern conveniences, a lot of normal people would choose to do that in a heartbeat.

Why?

Because life was so much simpler in those days, and people actually connected with one another.

Today, most people can count their true friends on one hand.

We weren’t designed to stare at screens for 10 hours a day.

And the value of our lives was never meant to be determined by how many “likes” we get on Facebook or Instagram.

Our modern way of life is not healthy.

In fact, it is literally driving many of us insane.

Hopefully we will choose to change direction before it is too late.

We’re witnessing an assault—including that of the most violent sort—by communist-style revolutionary evil in America. It all smacks of being directly out of the Karl Marx playbook. The young candidate for mayor of New York City, who has basically sewn up the Democrat nomination, is currently the chief archetype example of this radical leftist assault.

Marxism, communism, Nazism, fascism…these evoke thoughts of tyrants and dictatorships. Well, Marxism and communism might be wishful utopianism to some within political ideology circles in these days of movement toward socialism. But for the most part, thoughts of these isms generate study-related memories of the likes of Stalin, Mao, Hitler, Mussolini, and other humanity-destroying beasts.

The matters involved within the recollection include revolution, war, torture, gulag, genocide—any systems of governing that should be avoided at all costs. Fear and apprehension over dictatorships were the very reason the United States Constitution was written. Specifically, the Bill of Rights, the first ten amendments to the Constitution, spells out the rights of each citizen that government cannot usurp. These rights, the shapers of the Constitution meticulously wrote, are “inalienable.” That is, they are given by God, thus can’t be taken away by people in government.

Another ism has developed that threatens our inalienable rights. Its ominous construction continues at a torrid pace and will ultimately be worse than any of the aforementioned isms. As a matter of fact, it will be all those tyrannical nightmares rolled up into one system of utter decimation. George Orwell and Aldous Huxley, authors of well-known novels, played upon fear of such governments in their futuristic books, 1984 and Brave New World. The swiftness of developments lately makes their works of fiction look ever more prophetic.

Orwell used London and Britain in 1984 as the genesis of a world of ruthless control. “Big Brother is watching you” is a phrase the author used with grave effect. It continues to be used by those who warn of the exponentially encroaching surveillance technologies. Again, Orwell’s vision was almost prophetic in the biblical sense.

A friend who is a well-known journalist in Great Britain emailed me a number of years ago with the following troubling, though fascinating, information:

I was putting together some slides for one of my presentations yesterday and discovered that Britain has 1.5 times as many surveillance cameras as China! We now have cameras that talk to people, bossing them around in the streets! They are being installed in twenty cities. They are also getting listening devices. Some places also have face-monitoring systems so they can scan for people the authorities are interested in.

The average Briton is now filmed about three hundred times per day! We also have camera cars patrolling the streets, filming whatever takes their fancy and harassing motorists.

We are years ahead of America in plans to put GPS systems in cars, etc. They also want even more speed cameras, speed-averaging cameras—you name it. All of them are being linked into one enormous grid. The records of journeys are logged and kept. As you drive down the main highways, your number plates are scanned every few miles. Our son and I spent a day in the control room where all this information is monitored—an astonishing operation, with screens showing all the main roads. The EU is now planning to store all e-mails, log every web page visited, every phone call, etc., which Britain has done for years.

My friend told me—has told the world—that cameras are trained on his home from right across the street, atop a telephone-type pole.

It isn’t hard to imagine what that surveillance system is like these years later with the exponential developments involving AI (artificial intelligence).

It’s just a matter of time until all of England is under a surveillance system much more sophisticated and intrusive than our 1940s author, George Orwell, could have imagined. All of Europe is following suit, and we can see developments hourly of evidence that America is coming into Big Brotherism’s orbit of control.

The whole world is on track for super-sophisticated tracking. And a familiar name pops through the inky blackness of cyberspace to make this a readily observable fact: google.com.

Who in the world knows as much about you and your private thoughts as Google? That’s the question Katherine Albrecht, radio talk-show host and one-time spokeswoman for Startpage, a search engine that protects user privacy, posed to American Internet surfers a decade and a half ago.

“It would blow people’s minds if they knew how much information the big search engines have on the American public,” she told WND. “In fact, their dossiers are so detailed they would probably be the envy of the KGB” (Chelsea Schilling, “Life with Big Brother: Killer Way to Slay the Google Beast!” WorldNetDaily, 1/27/2010).

Albrecht detailed how Google and other search engines gather and maintain dossiers on everyone who uses the service. Despite legislative efforts in Congress to regulate Google and other such intrusive cyberspace entities, the information continues to be released to governments—for example, to America’s Homeland Security Agency—when information is requested. It seems the Bill of Rights is cast aside, even with efforts to legislate against invasive intrusion. Such ability to collect data on their victims was merely the dreams of people like those in Stalin’s secret service and Hitler’s Gestapo.

Albrecht said Americans unwittingly share their most private thoughts with search engines, serving up snippets of deeply personal information about their lives, habits, troubles, health concerns, preferences, and political leanings.

“We’re essentially telling them our entire life stories—stuff you wouldn’t even tell your mother—because you are in a private room with a computer,” she said (ibid.).

Big Brotherism, of course—in our view at Rapture Ready—is another way of defining the ideology that is heading up the drive toward establishing the regime of Antichrist, found in Revelation 13:16–18. With the government groping for control in ways that totally disregard the wishes of US citizenry, more often than not throwing constitutional safeguards to the winds of political expediency, the ideology becomes ever more manifest through our daily headlines.

All of this shows how near we must be to the Tribulation hour—thus, we’re that much closer to Christ calling His Church to be with Him (John 14:1–3; 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17).

As believers in Jesus Christ and believers in God’s prophetic Word, and knowing how all this points to the any-moment call of the Lord to His Church in the Rapture, we should be ever more faithful in warning those who will be left behind if they don’t accept the salvation offered by Christ.

Here is the message so vital at this late hour of this Age of Grace.

That if you will confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and will believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10:9–10)

Before the Israelites crossed into the Promised Land, God made sure they understood the weight of their words. Numbers 30 begins with laws about vows, underlining the seriousness of promises made before the Lord. As written in Numbers 30:3, “When a man makes a vow to ADONAI…he is to do everything he said he would do.” Our words shape realities. God began creation with a word. Similarly, we create trust, society, and even covenants by our words. Rabbi Jonathan Sacks writes: “Freedom depends on people keeping their word.” The first five books of Moses (Torah) are clear that truth is foundational. A society where vows are taken lightly ends up rudderless. But in God’s economy, oaths bind, build, and bless.

Just before the Israelites would enter the land, God gave them the tools to keep the land. The laws about vows mirror earlier patterns--like the red heifer law before the deaths of Miriam and Aaron. God prepares a remedy before the problem arises. Then comes the command to wage war on Midian for leading Israel into sin at Ba’al Peor. In that justice, Balaam, Israel’s spiritual saboteur, is finally silenced. And then, the map is drawn. Forty-two stops across four decades lead Israel to Moab’s border. The boundaries of the tribes are set. Cities of refuge are designated. Even the daughters of Tzlofhad are affirmed in their inheritance, showing that God’s justice includes everyone. God is about order, structure, and fairness before inheritance.

As Israel’s journey ends, the emphasis shifts from wandering to war, and then to worship and witness. God tells Moses to command the people to “drive out the inhabitants…and live in it, for I have given the land to you” (Numbers 33:53). In this, we see the land is conveyed and covenant is fulfilled. This is the climax of the Old Testament storyline where God gave the land to Israel (Genesis 12:7), not as a suggestion, but as a promise. That promise includes boundaries (laid out in Ezekiel 47–48) that won’t be fully realized until the return of Jesus. When He reigns in the Millennial Kingdom, Jerusalem will be called Adonai Shammah, “the LORD is there.” The physical ground Israel was about to occupy is part of a spiritual ground that God is reclaiming for Himself.

The promises God made to Abraham in Genesis 12 still stand. He said, “I will bless those who bless you…and in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.” This was a blueprint. God never fails to keep His word. Through Israel came Jesus, and through Jesus came redemption. What started as a promise to a nomad became salvation to the nations. It is clear that God’s word is unbreakable. His plan unstoppable. And His promises unfailing. Trust in them. Speak like they matter. And live like your inheritance depends on it, because it does. As Isaiah 40:8 says, “The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever.”

Nothing scares the devil more than a passion for Christ. So if you’ve recently made the decision to receive Christ as Savior and Lord, or if you’ve recently experienced a personal revival in your relationship with Him, you can expect to be targeted by your spiritual enemy.

The devil will do everything in his power to stop Christians from growing and thriving in our faith. He wants to keep us from living abundant, fulfilling, difference-making, holy lives. He will set traps for us. He will try to trip us up with temptations that exploit our weaknesses. He’s crafty that way.

So what are Christians to do? Can we effectively resist temptation? Or can we only heed the advice of Oscar Wilde, who said, “The only way to get rid of temptation is to yield to it.” Is that the only way to get rid of temptation? The answer is no.

How can we be spiritually productive in the face of his opposition? How can we live holy lives when he’s so determined to keep us from doing so? The Bible gives us the key in Psalm 119:9: “How can a young person stay pure? By obeying your word” (NLT). If we want to live a holy life, we must obey the Word of God. We must get God’s Word into our hearts and minds. That way, when the devil sets his sights on us, we’ll be able to use God’s Word against him.

Make no mistake: The Bible is a weapon as far as the devil is concerned. We see this in the story of Jesus’ temptation in Luke 4. After Jesus was baptized, He fasted for forty days in the desert wilderness. There, the devil appeared to Him to try to persuade Him to sin. Three times the devil tempted Jesus, and three times Jesus quoted God’s Word in response. And what did the devil do? “He left” (verse 13 NLT). Nothing in the devil’s arsenal was powerful enough to withstand God’s Word.

Psalm 119:11 says, “I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you” (NLT). After you give your life to Jesus, one of your next steps is to begin studying and memorizing God’s Word. Start with passages that give you comfort, strength, and reassurance, as well as passages that speak to areas in which you might be vulnerable—perhaps ones that deal with loneliness, temptation, or doubt. Run them through your mind again and again until reciting them becomes second nature to you.

Once they’re securely hidden in your heart, you can draw on them immediately when you start to feel tempted, lonely, or spiritually vulnerable. You can stop the devil in his tracks by quoting God’s Word, just as Jesus did in the wilderness. The Bible is your best weapon against the devil. The more wisely and skillfully you wield it, the less of a chance he has against you.
